| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | MAY 2017 | 67 Friends we will miss James Tornell passed away March 16, 2017 after a stroke. He was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on September 11, 1943. He was preceded in death by his dear mother, father, and brother, John. Jimmy has a loving sister who lives in Kansas City with her husband Ken. Jimmy spent some of his elementary years in Selah, Washington. At the age of 10, the family moved to Southern California. He excelled in sports while living there. He was First Team All Districts in basketball and played on the varsity tennis team. He attended college then volunteered for the Army and spent two years in the service, primarily in Germany. After he returned from the service he began his career with the U.S. Postal Service. He retired 15 years later and moved to Four Seasons and then Sun Lakes. Three years ago, he met Clarice La Terra at the blood bank. They became friends, which developed into being loving partners. Jimmy was an avid sports fan, a car enthusiast and loved his Tuesday and Thursday morning poker games with his great friends at Four Seasons. Jimmy will be remembered for his big smiles and winning ways. We will all miss him. Jean Twardowski On March 31, 2017, at the age of 92, Jean Twardowski finally hit the big jackpot in the sky… Heaven! Her long life can be attributed to her Catholic faith, marrying the perfect man, raising five fun and remarkable children, her love of donuts, anything fried and Don Jose's combo #1. What brought her the most joy was her many friendships, world traveling, golfing and family gatherings. The list would not be complete without mentioning her special therapies, Bingo, Bunco, Bocce ball, Bridge, Thirty-one and her all time favorite the penny slots! As she said goodbye to her four surviving children, two daughters-in-law, two sons-in-law, six grandchildren and two great grandchildren, she was greeted in Heaven by her devoted husband of 68 years, her eldest son and loving granddaughter.
