The teams were from Netherlands, France, Sweden, Columbia and Australia, and hosted by the U.S. Marine Corps. Our group made 225 crocheted and knitted hats. While distributing the hats, we met the most humbling and appreciative Wounded Warrior athletes you would ever meet. Once the word spread about what we were doing, we were inundated by the warriors wanting a knit hat. They immediately, put their hats on, even though the temperature was over 80 degrees. The warriors commented that we were so talented to be able to complete such a project. Their compliments made such an impression on us. These warriors related to us that their own countries did not appreciate the service and sacrifice they had made. It was a big reminder of what our own military went through when they returned from Vietnam. We all should treat our servicemen and women in and out of uniform with dignity and respect. It was such an honor to be part of the International Wounded Warrior Project. May God bless them all. ~ Dorothy Payne Are you looking to meet some new people? Visit the Craft Group on Thursdays at 10 am. We have fun and friendly members who enjoy chatting and getting to know one another while working on a project. Some bring their own projects to work on, others join in the project of the day and some of us take a break from any project and just chat while the others create. No special abilities are needed, only a desire to have a good time and possibly try something you never thought you would. We look forward to welcoming you next Thursday! If you have any questions please call Pam Kelley at (951) 769-7967. ~ Barbara Paules The French Wounded Warriors Team showing off their new knit hats
