FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | MAY 2017 21 Lodge Committee SMITTY'S RENOVATION When Four Seasons in Beaumont was built, K. Hovnanian created a small, intimate Bistro. They envisioned it as a place for homeowners to gather, chat, drink coffee, order soup, sandwiches and soft drinks. As we are all aware, our Bistro took off in another direction. We are so fortunate to have the hard-working Smith family, who has built the Bistro into a great restaurant serving a wide variety of good foods for breakfast, lunch and dinner. They also provide free delivery service. Concerns came right along with the growth of the business. The builder not only created an intimate eating area, but also a very small kitchen and preparation area. Some of the equipment used was the same size used in our own kitchens. When the old Bistro Committee morphed into the Lodge Committee the first item on our "to do" list was to renovate the Bistro kitchen. We began by doing due diligence with Brian (Smitty) and Kathy Smith, Bistro employees and homeowners. When finished, with the help of Saphire Rhodes, our FirstService Facilities Coordinator, we were able to get bids and select Cornerstone Restaurant Supply and Design as our choice for the renovation. Next step was to write a proposal and then take it for approval to the Facilities Committee, Finance Committee and then on to the Board of Directors. These committees and our Board all realized the importance the Bistro represents to our community. With houses currently selling at 30 per quarter, they recognized problems would occur with the present small kitchen unable to keep up with the demand. It also helped that Dennis Mandell, the Cornerstone equipment specialist, came to each of the meetings to answer questions. As you look at the photos, you can see the amazing kitchen, with the space to handle all the current and future hungry homeowners and guests. We are all very fortunate to have such a wonderful area to gather and enjoy great food. ~ Jill Anderson Our March meeting was well attended with two committee members, Jeanne Zarr, Board Liaison, Jeri Mupo, FirstService Residential General Manager and five guests. This was also Barbara Morton's third meeting after which she will become a committee member. She will be a valuable addition to the committee and we are pleased to welcome her. Our guests had a variety of topics to discuss which involved possible changes to the CC&Rs. One topic was allowing guests to use the facilities without requiring the homeowner to be present at all times. Another was allowing guests to use areas that are currently restricted to homeowners only such as the gym, Computer Room and Billiards Room. It was decided that surveys will be prepared and sent to all homeowners so that they can voice their opinions on these possible changes. Recreation Center #3 was discussed. The committee will be formulating the rules for the new center and an article will be written for the Breeze. Our meetings are on the second Tuesday of each month at 9 am in the RCN Conference Room. We are interested in hearing homeowners' concerns. We also still have openings on the committee if you would like to participate.
