FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | MAY 2017 35 Classical Music Club We are classical music lovers with an interest in sharing our love, knowledge, and interest in classical music. We meet on the second Thursday of each month at 7 pm in the Theater. We listen to and watch musical selections on the big screen. Each month we focus on a particular work or several selections of one composer. We also discuss current musical performances in the area. We welcome new members. Contact Steve Benoff at steve.benoff@verizon.net or (310) 413-4896. ~ Steve Benoff Kiwanis Club of Beaumont The club has just submitted grant forms to Kiwanis CalNevHa District to get approval. The Pediatric Trauma Prevention Grant will be matching funds from Kiwanis CalNevHa District and the Beaumont Kiwanis Club. Between our Club and the District funds, the $4,000 will be given to the junior All-American Football Beaumont Cougars, to purchase shoulder pads and helmets to prevent upper body trauma. In April our club assisted the Beaumont Recreation and Parks District with their annual Fishing Derby. This is held at the pond located at Cherry Valley Blvd. and Beaumont Ave. in Cherry Valley. Our club showed kids how to fish, tie hooks on their fishing lines, and how to be safe around other people fishing at no cost. This was a fun day with all the young kids fishing and learning how to fish. One of our major fundraisers will be held May 27, the 12th Annual Cherry Fest Car and Motorcycle Show which is held in Stewart Park at Ninth and Orange in Beaumont. The last few years there have been more than 150 cars and motorcycles in the show (we hope to have more this year). The cost to pre-register to show your car is $25 and participants receive a car show t-shirt and a dash plaque. The public is invited to view the cars and motorcycles. There is no cost for the public to view the show, so come out to the park and have a great day. For further information on the Cherry Fest Car and Motorcycle show, call Buzz Dopf (909) 208-0800 for an application. On June 1, 2 and 4 we will be assisting the Cherry Festival Assoc. at the 99th Annual Cherry Festival. Club members work the admission gates selling tickets and letting people in the festival grounds. This is a fundraiser for the club. The Cherry Festival Association pays several service clubs to help out and pays them for their assistance. The money the club receives from the Cherry Festival Assoc. will be put back into the community in some type of service project or into youth programs. The Beaumont Kiwanis Club meets at the Lodge Conference Room every Thursday except for the first Thursday of the month. The meeting starts at 6:30 pm. If you wish to order food prior to the meeting, come in about 5:45 pm to order your food at Smitty's Bistro. We are looking for new members, so come out to see what Kiwanis can do for you and what you can do for the community and the "Kids of the World." For information about our events and attending a meeting call Buzz Dopf at (909) 208-0880 or come to a meeting on Thursdays. If you wish to attend a meeting and you're not a resident of Four Seasons, you're welcome. Call Buzz (909) 208-0880 and I will have your name added to the gate so they will let you in on meeting night between 5:30 and 6:45 pm.~ Buzz Dopf
