24 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | May 2017 | Thoughts for the month: As April peeks its head around the corner, we are so pleased to share the "Sunshiners" with you. Not all are pictured here. It is impossible to capture them all but we are proud of this volunteer group who shares the purpose of serving our seniors. We are always looking at ways to improve our services to the community and better communicate this. Celebrations of Life: We were saddened to learn that Karen Brown's mother, Joyce Hutchinson, had passed away. On the same day, Margie Culton and Patty Jones also suffered the loss of their father, James Francis Willerford. Our condolences go out to these two families. Celebrations of Life were held on April 13 and April 28 respectively. We often do not have information on others who may have passed in this community. Again, our condolences to those who have suffered loss. Kindness Recognition: The May recipient of the Kindness Award is Judy Bailey. Geri Richmond pointed out to LaDean Hatcher that Judy has volunteered to make memorial tie purses for widows. These purses are lovingly fashioned from neckties that were worn by their departed loved one. There is no charge for this service which she has provided for many years. Truly, Judy is a very special and kind person. We are proud to recognize her. How great it is that our random acts of kindness and good deeds can make someone else's entire day. Kindness costs nothing. It uplifts both the giver and the receiver. Team Sunshine's kindness program is as easy as recording someone's special deed on a Kindness Card found at the Lodge Front Desk or you can contact LaDean Hatcher who leads this effort. Special Team Sunshine Information: We encourage residents to call Margie Culton (491-4058) or Marilyn Rhyne (926-9347) for Team Sunshine information. Our two Co-Chairs can direct you to the individual in Team Sunshine who can help with your concern. Thank you. A good source of Team Sunshine information is the Caring Connection Card which can be obtained at the Lodge front desk. Please stop by and pick up your copy. If you know of someone who has had surgery, recovering from an illness, etc., please contact Trish Egan (909) 844-3852. She will send the appropriate card. This information is also passed to a "calling team." They will initiate a call as follow-up. Special Monthly Programs: The April program was entitled "Doc Talk" presented by Rancho Family Medical Group on Wednesday, April 12. Our speaker was Dr. Memon who spoke on topics such as blood pressure, diet and exercise. A question and answer session is always popular and attendance clearly showed that when we have doctor speakers, people tune in. The May Health Fair is scheduled for Thurs., May 18. We hope you have this on your calendar. You won't want to miss this yearly health-check event. If you haven't had the privilege of being a participant in the past, you will certainly want to make time for this informative and eye-opening look into your health. Closing Thoughts: "The only person you should try to be better than, is the person you were yesterday." ~ Anonymous Team Sunshine
