46 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | JUNE 2017 All residents, come and join the Four Seasons at Beaumont FRS Radio Club. If you currently have an FRS/GMRS radio or if you are thinking about purchasing one in the future, we can help. We will teach you the fundamentals and the features of your radio and how to best utilize them for recreational activities or in times of emergencies. We can accomplish this with classroom settings where we will explain each feature and when to use them. We will conduct exercises in the form of Radio Rallies to simulate a dynamic real life environment where changes occur often. And, in general you will meet those that have similar interests and can pass their experiences on to you. This club was formed for those residents who are interested in maximizing their radio knowledge and the use of their FRS/GMRS radios. Our first meeting was May 19 and we discussed the activities and the direction the members of the FRS club will pursue. We meet every third Friday of the month in the RCN Conference room at 10 am. ~ Alfred Blair Four Seasons Radio Club We meet the third Tuesday of each month at 6:30 pm in the RCN Main Lobby; thus, our June meeting will be June 20. Visitors are always welcome. We invite all photographers, regardless of skill level, to join us for our regular meetings, workshops, speakers, field trips, and in-house demos. For example, in our April meeting, Martha Baumgarten from the Communications Committee joined part of our meeting to discuss an upcoming project that could involve the Camera Club. Also, our discussion of Back Button Focus continued with our showing of two YouTube tutorials followed by discussion. The topic continued in our May meeting involving proper focusing with an eye toward depth of field. As an example, shooting distant objects in focus through chain link fences in the foreground while blurring the fence to the point of being close to… or actually, invisible. Also, we continued our Back Button Focus discussions with hands-on demonstrations. As usual, some of the photographs of the members utilizing this genre were shown with explanations giving particulars of the settings. We hope to see you soon at one of our meetings. Cory Ainsworth, a 37-year-old blues musician, is barely scraping by after her mother's death when she discovers a priceless piece of Rock 'n' Roll memorabilia hidden away in a shed on the family's South Carolina property — Elvis Presley's Stutz Blackhawk. A backup singer for the King, Cory's mother, Honey, was at Graceland the day Elvis died. Cory, wishing to return the car to Elvis' estate, retraces the exact route her mother took 37 years earlier when she drove the car home to South Carolina. Cory is hoping to answer the burning question in her mind — who is her father? In the process she learns the truth about her complicated mother, a minister's daughter, who spent a lifetime struggling to conceal the truth about her single year of rebellion. We all lived through his iconic time in America and probably remember what we were doing when we heard that Elvis Presley died. Come discuss this fun and interesting novel with us. Even if you did not read it, you will enjoy the discussion.
