It's June and I'm still guessing my way through the activities here at the Lodge. The repairs to the Lodge Ballroom have everyone on "Flex-check" (including me) on what events will be taking place for sure this month, as well as next. It's put a real damper on pouring my heart and soul into the Fourth of July program and event this year. Just be prepared for a modified event this year… be sure to crack open your July Breeze as soon as you receive it next month, to see what we're actually doing… it will be a surprise to all of us, but fun nevertheless! Let's get back to the June events I'm hoping to pull off… The Art Fair will be taking place on Friday, June 9 from 4 pm to 8:30 pm. This is always a wonderful and amazing exhibit of the incredible talent in our neighborhood. If you have never been to the Art Fair before, be prepared to be blown away at the beauty, artistic talent and workmanship on display. All of the many pieces have been created by our in-house classes. Come be inspired, listen to some live music, enjoy some delicious appetizers and sip on your favorite BYO beverage. This is a Ballroom event, so unfortunately, it is subject to construction… plan on coming anyway! This community is full of talent and we have our share of crafters as well as photographers and artists. If you are a crafter or anxiously await participation in our upcoming Oct. 7 Craft Boutique, then you need to mark down the mandatory, 6 pm, Wednesday, June 14 meeting in the Lodge. This is where we pull numbers (like a lottery) to choose selling tables, get an overall orientation of how this event works and pay the $5 table fee. Each person will only be able to draw for one table and if we're lucky, we'll have one table for everyone who wants to be a vendor this year. Just a note to newbies we are always sold out and have not had enough tables for everyone except for last- minute cancellations. If you really want to be in the Craft Boutique and will be out of town, you are welcome to send another person in your stead to draw your table number for you and pay your entry fee. As much as all of this hanging by our fingernails with construction challenges has brought uncertainty, I am certain of this… all of this will be well worth it, looking back on it next year! I can't wait to see our brand-new Ballroom with beautiful new carpet and bigger dance floors, including all of the other possible amenities! It will be something to behold! I think we should do a grand opening of this new "Grand Ballroom," what do you think? In the meantime enjoy the new courts facility at Rec Center 3 (which will most likely be open sometime this month) as well as the gorgeous Summit and the spring floral explosion in the Lodge gardens. I love this place and in spite of its occasional inconveniences (to make things even better) it's still the best community in Southern California!
