28 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | JUNE 2017 STAG: Senior Transportation Assistance Group Interest Group The months are flying with so much accomplished by STAG with the help of many good people. We particularly would like to thank our friends at Pass Transportation for sponsoring our train trip to Olvera Street. It was such a great trip that they are going to sponsor another trip to Olvera Street on May 23, with an orientation May 22. Since the orientation benefits anyone wishing to utilize train transportation in the area, all are welcome. Max Calder from Community Services of Banning joined us in April to share about how the Federal Transit Administration launched the Rides to Wellness initiative to increase partnerships between health and transportation providers. Lisa Ilmilli, the Mobility Manager of Riverside Transportation, gave an interesting talk on Dial-a-Ride and Americans with Disabilities Act. Lisa left ADA applications at the Lodge. Those experiencing temporary driving restrictions due to knee surgeries, vision problems, or other short-term challenges, may be eligible for a short-term ADA card, enabling door-to-door service on Dial-a-Ride in Beaumont, parts of Banning and Riverside County. Don't assume you cannot get a card. Make out an application and request that your doctor complete the physician statement. If you have an ADA card, there is no age requirement for Dial-A-Ride. We enjoyed another exciting trip in May! We had a full bus join us for a visit to Morongo for free tour, complimentary buffet, and a mystery reward added to everyone's Morongo Rewards Cards! There may still be openings for our next trip on June 8. If you miss out in June, we'll be happy to add you to our waiting list for July 13. Our May Ice Cream Social featured a very important guest speaker, the director of Kaiser Permanente's Redlands Medical Facility. We were glad to show that we have a great many Kaiser members with a need for local services, such as an urgent care, a reciprocal pharmacy, and some contract physicians. We have 1,000 signatures from Four Seasons asking for a local Kaiser facility. Upcoming events for June, include: June 1 - T-NOW meeting at noon at the Civic Center. Lunch is included; June 8 – STAG outing to Morongo; June 15 - STAG Meeting at noon featuring a presentation from the Lakes assisted living in Banning, giving us an overview of what they have to offer when living on your own no longer is possible. STAG could use some volunteers! Contact us or attend our next meeting to learn more! For additional information, trip sign-ups or concerns relating to any senior transportation issues, call or email us. For Morongo trips, please include the name, a telephone number, email address, date of birth, and whether you have a Morongo Rewards Card – for each participant. Email is preferred so we get the correct information. If you do not have email, then please call. All communication may be directed to the following: brendarteeman@verizon.net or (951) 845-8477. ~ Brenda and Richard Teeman Elizabeth Gibbs, Julie Stayner, Ronnie Niles, Steve Tarr, Terry Albright, Vicki Howard, Nancy Barnaby, Marty Key, Bev Jack, Bob Howard, and in front Brenda Teeman
