FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | JUNE 2017 31
Neighborhood Watch
CRIME PREVENTION We are fortunate at Four Seasons to
have very little crime. We believe that part of this is our location.
Being a mostly gated community is also a deterrent to someone who
would invade our private community.
The Beaumont Police Department has told us that our
Neighborhood Watch program is, in large part, responsible for our
safe community. When neighbors know one another and care about
one another, it is more difficult for criminals to work in our area.
The motto, "If You See Something, Say Something," is necessary. It
has become important in the reporting of "hooded" people jumping
fences and being caught or frightened off. It reminds us to let our
neighbors know if a garage door or a car in a driveway is left open.
We are "Good Samaritans" when we ring a doorbell and let a resident
know.
As seniors, we joke about forgetting things, but if we watch out
for one another, we can use our "group remembering" to make
our community even safer. No one wants to be a victim, and any
preventative measure will help us avoid that circumstance.
Neighborhood Watch also keeps us informed about community
issues and Wednesday, May 10, at 10 am Beaver Medical explained
their position on transferring patients from San Gorgonio Hospital
to Redlands Community, 17 miles away. Later in the evening, Todd
Parton, Beaumont City Manager discussed the Mello Roos taxes in
Beaumont, and current city projects.
Our next meeting will be June 14 when Loma Linda University
Health and Pharmacy will be our guest speakers.
Everyone is a member of Neighborhood Watch by virtue of living
in Four Seasons, but if you would like to be the Block Captain of
your small area, please contact Anita Worthen at (951) 769-9858. ~
