This is the perspective of the artist of the month, Thomas Herron:
"Venice Street at Night" is one of my first serious attempts at
adding color to my artwork. One of the main reasons why I regularly
turn up to the drawing classes lead by Rob Kelman, is that he has
inspired me to evolve from using lead pencils and to venture into
multimedia, such as pastels and ink. In the few years that I have been
a student of the class, I have grown envious that my skills, which have
taken over 50 years to reach their present standard, were dwarfed by
the wonderful artwork of my colleagues in just a couple of years or
less. We all appreciate the advice and patience Rob provides us and
the atmosphere he has created within the class to enable so many
friendships to flourish. At the end of every class we all eagerly await
"critique time." I know we all leave with constructive encouragement
which will drive us forward to enjoy the experience of participating
in our art. If you know how to hold a pencil or a paint brush, believe
me, there is a budding artist inside you begging to be set free. ~
Thomas Herron.
We meet Mondays from 10 am to 12 noon and/or Wednesdays
from 6 to 8 pm. Any questions, call Rob Kelman at (951) 992-9156.
