48 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | JUNE 2017
Racquet Club
Construction of the new recreation center
and tennis courts has been progressing nicely;
circumstances however, did not allow for us to
hold our May Play Day there. Certainly, June will
be the month when we can test our skills on the
new surfaces. In anticipation that this month
will conclude our long relationship with the
original tennis courts, creatively named #1 and #
2, Club President Irve Sturner has contributed the
following salutation:
"Goodbye Tennis Courts #1 and #2.
We played; we laughed; we left an awful lot of good shots on
your surfaces.
We left some sweat, some tears, some blood, and even some
broken bones were left there.
But over time, it was all good…
We leave you, (both courts), in the capable hands of the Pickle
Ballers and Paddle Tennisers, who will reconfigure the playing
fields and get you a new coat of paint. You have been good to us;
you treated us well… but now it is time to move on.
We are moving to our new digs, "The Courts."
We have waited diligently for over 10+ years for this recreation
center to be built, and it is now a reality. Come visit The Courts;
we'll leave the light on for you."
Speaking of leaving the light on, we share with the new denizens of
Court #2, that the light timer doesn't rotate, so it really will leave the
lights on for you.
Barbara Miller is continuing to coordinate
doubles play on the second and third Thursday of
each month. Matches are scheduled for 6 pm and
7 pm, so contact her to get in some quick games in
the evenings.
The monthly Play Days are scheduled for the
last Saturday of each month, beginning at 8:30 am.
With four available tennis courts at The Courts,
we will be able to change the previous Play Day
procedures and be able to have 16 players playing
at one time. So, there should be more opportunity to play and little or
no waiting. Come on out!
