24 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | JUNE 2017 | Happy Cookers Happy Cookers had a fabulous "high tea" party in May, complete with extravagantly decorated tables and gaily decorated hats worn by women dressed to the nines. We're going to outdo ourselves again this month. On June 23 at 11 am, we present Summer Breeze, a luncheon celebrating the new South Clubhouse patio and the upcoming Fourth of July holiday. The red, white, and blue themed event is for our members and all potential members. Lunch will include roasted chicken and Swiss cheese rollers, potato salad, chips, cookies, and iced tea (or BYOB). Andy Lepak will entertain us by singing our favorite "oldies but goodies." Seating is limited, so RSVP ASAP. Drop off your check for $3, made out to Happy Cookers, at 5253 W. Riviera. Our meetings, held the last Friday of the month, always feature great guest speakers, interesting events, new recipes to sample, or fabulous field trips. You don't even have to be a good cook (or a cook of any kind) to join our club. For more information, call De Oravez at 769-3232, or Gloria Peña at 210-0802. Join us Wed., June 28 at 1 pm in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room for a panel discussion on "Doing research while on Vacation – American and International." Where are you going this year for a vacation we asked our members: Sue K. – Taking the grandchildren to visit my family's farm in Idaho to ride horses and climb into the lofts of the old barn and dig for potatoes in the fields. Richard M. – Cruising to the Isles of Greece with a family reunion group. Alice J. – Time share condo in Mexico for some collecting of recipes for a future cookbook I'm working on with my daughter. Well, it's a given that these people will be able to delve into some interesting aspects of family history while on these trips. Also gathering a fabulous wealth of family stories for their memory books will be time well spent for these vacationers. We will discuss ways to use time and resources wisely during vacation time.
