40 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | JULY 2017 | Int'l Culture Club Come join us in July on the second Thursday evening of the month. Break out your red, white and blue clothes and wear them to our dinner dance. You will be part of a very special evening as the ICC celebrates our country's independence from England at our premier event of the year. We follow the same format each year, as our members love it and would be disappointed if we changed it in any way. The doors to the Ballroom open at 5:30 pm. Music by The Global Affair Stars at 6 pm. After our pledge of allegiance to the flag, U.S.A. Evelyn Hawkins Stardust Dancers take the floor and preform their very colorful military routine. This is followed by our flag carried by Jim Fitzpatrick and veterans in the audience from all services marching in procession to the music of each branch being played and the participation of the audience clapping and cheering the veterans. This is a very rousing scene and patriotic tribute to those who have served. Our buffet menu for the evening is all American. You will find honey stung fried chicken, BBQ pork ribs, potato salad, fresh French green beans with real bacon bits and apple pie for dessert. Your table will be pre-set with corn bread muffins with honey and butter, along with a dinner salad including tomatoes, cucumbers and shredded carrots. Coffee, water and iced tea will be on a sideboard in the room. You can sign up for this very special all American evening on the first Thursday afternoon of July at 3 pm at the North Clubhouse. $24 for members. $27 for non-residence guests. You can become a member and attend by bringing a separate check of $25 pp for membership and a check for the event. If you cannot attend after doing so, call Carol Hurt at 769-1315 by Sunday afternoon after the sign-up and she can refund your check. Also, if you missed sign-up she can assign table seating for you. If you must cancel last minute, call her for a take out box. Carol is our go-to lady. Info: Diane Hofler 769-9308 The only club functions this month are the remaining Summer Line Dance Sessions. They are on Mondays, July 10, 17, 24 and 31 in the South Clubhouse from 7 to 8 pm. These sessions are for our experienced dancers so they can get a little exercise and keep up on the dances they've learned through the year. No instruction, just dancing. To all Sun Lakes residents, if you think you might have an interest in learning about the activities of the Country Western Dance Club, we will have a FREE introductory dance in August. No charge and no obligation. This introductory dance gives you an opportunity to learn about our club and its activities. We will teach two or three very basic line dances and a basic couples dance. Our introductory dance will be Fri., Aug. 25, at 7 pm in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom. Come learn a dance or just come and watch if you prefer. In September, we start the new season with very basic beginner line dance instruction. Line dance instruction is on Monday evenings from 7 to 8:30 pm in the South Clubhouse. The first instruction is Mon., Sept. 11 and will be FREE, so come and give it a try. There is also couples dance instruction on Tuesday evenings, usually the second and fourth Tuesdays, from 7 to 8 pm in the South Clubhouse. The first instruction is Tues., Sept. 12. Again, no charge. The first Friday dance will be on Fri., Sept. 15. These dances are from 7 to 9 pm in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom. There will be no charge for this first dance.
