Please be sure to get us the information about their passing. Turn in any obituaries to the Main Clubhouse reception desk or send them electronically to SunLakesNews@yahoo.com. MABEL A. MEAGHER, a Sun Lakes resident since 1992, passed away peacefully at her home on May 19 of natural causes at age 95. Mabel is survived by her niece, Patricia Boguzski of New York, and her cousin, Maryann Carvotta, of Los Angeles. Mabel was one of the last ladies of her era who maintained an aura of grace and grandeur throughout her life. Her life experiences, travel, and venerable age gave her a humorous and pointed view of life, which she expressed with enthusiasm. Mabel's inner beauty, her wise counsel and her friendship will be greatly missed by those who love her. Claire Marie Nead, 87, passed away peacefully on April 02, 2017, in her home in Banning, CA where she lived with her husband Harry Nead for nearly 30 years. The daughter of Margaret M. (Dennis) and John J. Ryan, Claire was born in Boston, MA on August 20, 1929. She was pre-deceased by her sister Margorie Ryan Zopf and her husband George; her brother John J. Ryan and his wife Helen; and her sister Elinor C. Ryan. Claire is survived by her daughters Linda Nead Boulger and Lisa Nead. She had four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She leaves her seven nieces and nephews: Elinor Ryan Devlin, Mary Pat Joy, John Ryan, Jr., Thomas Ryan, Maureen Guerry, Susan O'Toole, Christine McCarthy. Growing up in Brighton, MA, Claire loved spending time outdoors, playing sports and she especially loved her dog, Lido. Later she became interested in diving and would spend a lot of her time at the Longwood Country Club in Chesnut, MA, and became an excellent diver. In 1951, Claire graduated from Regis College, a Catholic University in Weston, Massachusetts, where she studied Latin. After college, Claire was eager to see the world and soon landed a job as a stewardess for Trans World Airlines. Although she missed her family and wrote them letters often, she loved the adventure of seeing new places and meeting new people. It was here that she met and married her husband, Harry Nead. She moved to Southern California where they started a family. Together they traveled to numerous destinations throughout the world. They lived for 23 years in Pacific Palisades and raised their two daughters Linda and Lisa. Once the kids were grown, Claire took a job at a travel agency for some years and made lifelong friendships. When Claire and Harry moved to Sun Lakes in 1989, Claire became an avid golfer. She even got a hole in one. Always a good sport, she established many friends in the golf community and felt most at home on the course. Up until recent years, Claire attended Saint Kateri Catholic Church where she was a faithful member for over 20 years. Claire's family and friends say that she was a "kind and loving person with a positive attitude and a great sense of humor." She wrote a letter that made you feel like you were all she ever thought of. Her family and friends recall that at gatherings she was always "first for dessert." She kept her friends for life and she treated everyone with kindness.
