You have probably noticed that some of the trees are stressed or dying, and many shrubs are either missing or dying. We are learning that the developer of our community in many instances installed plants that either do not do well in our climate, or roots have been choked out because placement was in an area too small for the plant/tree when planted. Our landscape contractor has been a great help in advising and helping us achieve our desired goal as we move forward. A proposal has been put together and will be presented to the Board of Directors at their regular July meeting for a portion of the area. Summer is now upon us, water restrictions have been lifted, however each one of us needs to still be mindful of water conservation and do our part in looking for ways to avoid runoff to the street and use drip systems where possible. We ask our homeowners to watch for gopher activity in the common areas, and in addition, should you see an irrigation problem please inform the Lodge so corrections can be made. Our committee members are always on the lookout for these problems; however, the more eyes looking the better. Your help is very much appreciated. The landscape committee is looking for a new member. If you are interested, kindly complete the Committee Volunteer Application and return it to the front desk at the Lodge. Our committee members are vital to the community, they keep a watchful eye on all the landscaped areas and work very hard to make sure our grounds look beautiful. Facilities Committee When requests from homeowners regarding our facilities and equipment are brought before the Facilities Committee, our members take time to deliberate the request. Many factors are considered before we vote yea or nay. As both committee members and homeowners, we're very mindful of the cost and benefit of each request. From time to time we get a request to upgrade our equipment or courts to meet the requirements of a league or tournament specifications. We'd like to take a moment to remind you that the facilities are for the Four Season's residents recreational use and were designed for use as a senior community. They were not intended for competitive events. It's great to see someone learn a sport such as shuffleboard or billiards, develop their skills and want to move on to a more competitive environment, but in these cases, individuals can join various teams/facilities within the city. Our facilities are all about our residents learning a new game/sport, meeting new neighbors, having fun with old neighbors and just enjoying ourselves. It is our responsibility to maintain these facilities. So, with that in mind, the Facilities Committee would like to wish everyone a great summer and enjoy our fantastic facilities.
