Thank you to those who came to see "City Lights" on May 27.
I was so pleased with all the positive energy throughout, and
thank you to those who made use of your dancing shoes! Loved
it! I had a lot of compliments on the band and the food. We
will definitely have "City Lights" back in the near future. Also
thank you to our volunteers and staff - the arrangements outside
looked fantastic. I would like to continue to have these types of
events in the future. ~ Richard Booth
City Lights A Great Event
By Theresa Rossetti, Resident
The second and fourth Wednesday of every month, from 6:30pm to
9ish in the Arts and Crafts room, some very odd things go on. So odd
in fact that photography isn't (or at least shouldn't) be allowed in order
to protect the reputation and dignity of those in attendance.
If you're in the Lodge on these evenings, maniacal laughter can be
heard. Passing by the doors, you might see grown people tugging at
their ears, touching their noses, tapping fingers on their arms and
gesticulating wildly while facing a gaggle of their peers.
Occasionally, there will be someone lying on the floor,
stabbing or choking themselves repeatedly.
So, what the heck is going on in there? If you check
the SDV calendar you'll be able to match up the dates,
time and location with the Charades Group.
A dedicated group of lunatics get together to act out
song, book, movie and play titles, sprinkling in quotes
and celebrity names. We don't keep score, we actively help
the other team with clues and hints and generally break
many of the "rules" of an official game of Charades. We
frequently forget which team we are on, at which point we
get chastised by another who is actually paying attention!
If you're interested in joining in the shenanigans, or just
watching us make fools of ourselves, consider stopping
by! (See the Groups section on page 24 of The View for
further information.)
NO PICTURES, PLEASE!
