SOLERA DIAMOND VALLEY | JULY 2017 5 4 SOLERA DIAMOND VALLEY | JULY 2017 By Theresa Rossetti, Resident The Lavender Festival takes place every year in Cherry Valley, just up the road from SDV and was a delightful trip for a dozen members of the Garden/Bonsai Group in June. The Festival takes place at Highland Springs Ranch and Inn and the 123 Organic Farm. The inn is lovely, with small shops on the grounds to sample and purchase the products available from the farm. There is also the Grand Oak Restaurant onsite, a farm to table restaurant serving lunch and dinner Thursday through Sunday (Brunch on Sunday). Their menu looks yummy. We wandered through the lavender fields, saw the olive tree fields, had a lovely lunch under the trees on the grounds and went shopping for the many candles, lotions, essential oils, infused olive oils, lavender plants, sachets, etc., that are made at the farm or sourced locally. Although the Lavender Festival is over for this year, the inn and restaurant are there for you to visit for the day, and the area is close to Oak Glen, a bit further up the mountain, where fruit picking is available along with many other shopping and dining experiences. We SDV residents are lucky to have quite a few places like these close by for delightful day trips where we're home before dark! Scents Were Everywhere Members of the DRC have noticed several new installations of satellite dishes. Unfortunately, some are not in compliance with the design guidelines which are the following: 4.1 Antenna/Satellite Dish Policy: No satellite dish/antenna with a diameter greater than one meter may be installed within the community. The satellite dish/ antenna must be installed in an unobtrusive location behind the front fence line and must not be located above the lowest ridge line (high point of the roof ). Wiring must be either hidden out of sight, match stucco or trim color or be painted to match the stucco or trim of the house to which it is attached. Wires must not be left hanging loose or unpainted. Please be aware of this policy. If you are contemplating installing a dish you must complete the "Satellite TV Dish Site Form," which can be obtained at the front desk. In addition, please show our guidelines to the satellite company prior to installation. As you should be aware, the last day to submit survey responses was May 29. The results have now been tabulated and the Board is starting their review. There was a meeting with the Board and members to review the results of the survey held on June 29. For the benefit of the residents who were unable to attend that meeting we are providing a summary to what was presented at that meeting. In addition, the entire survey results with comments will be available for viewing on the SDV Website and Front Desk binder. We asked for some demographic information and did you know that: • 8 percent of members work full time and 5 percent of members work part time • 13 percent of members own or rent an RV • 21 percent of members live alone • 49 percent of members own a pet • 50+ percent of members would like some or all Board and Coffee with the Board meetings to be held in the evening • 57 percent of members have lived in an HOA previously • Among the survey results, 77 percent of members want to keep the Seasonal Color, 75 percent of members want to have us continue to offer coffee, and 78 percent want us to consider closing the pedestrian gates at the ends of the Paseo. Have You Seen The Survey Results? NEWS FROM THE BOARD Prior to the Survey, the Board had already taken actions to improve facilities maintenance and the performance of the management company, Associa/PCM. We hope you will be seeing the results of those actions soon. Members rating of the environment and living conditions in SDV The next step will be for the Board to review and discuss the survey results at a special Open Session of the Board to be held Friday, July 7, at 1 pm. At this meeting the Board will agree on the actions to be taken to address issues identified in the Survey. We hope to see you there! SATELLITE DISH INSTALLATION If you are interested in helping our community here at Solera Diamond Valley and want to ensure its safety, please submit an application for the EPAC Committee. Residents may submit an application for consideration by the committee officers. Forms are located at the Mountain View Lodge Front Desk. EPAC COMMITTEE IS LOOKING FOR NEW VOLUNTEERS!
