Counter Culture Cinema
If you're getting tired of the big summer popcorn movies, come join us at
our Counter Culture Cinema Club screenings and see some smaller gems!
Our first monthly screening, on Sunday, Aug. 13 at 6 pm, is the film Loving
(USA 2016, 2 hr. 3 min., English). Here is a brief description from IMDb.
com: "The story of Richard and Mildred Loving, a couple whose arrest
for interracial marriage in 1960s Virginia began a legal battle that would
end with the Supreme Court's historic 1967 decision." This film stars Best
Actress Academy Award nominee Ruth Negga.
Our second monthly screening, on Sunday, Aug. 27 at 6 pm, is the film
Lovely Still (USA 2008, 1 hr. 32 min., English). Here is a brief description
from IMDb.com: "A holiday fable that tells the story of an elderly
man discovering love for the first time." This movie stars Martin
Landau, Ellen Burstyn and Elizabeth Banks.
All of our screenings are followed by a lively discussion about
the film. We'd love to have you join us. The Lodge theatre has
very limited seating, so if you're interested in our screenings,
come early; we hope to see you there. Please note that all films
