18 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | AUGUST 2017 Hard to believe it is August already. Soon the weather will be cooling down a little, our trees will be changing colors and we will be able to get out and get some good exercise walking around our neighborhoods. I don't know if you have noticed, but in early July I saw lots of crews out working on our sidewalks. In April, FirstService Residential brought forward to our committee a report from BPR Inc. With a list of sidewalk trip hazards in Phase A and B. We immediately recommended that management move forward with having all trip hazards repaired. There were hazards as well in Phase D. Some of these hazards were brought to the attention of builder K. Hovnanian Homes. I was so happy to see that sidewalk repairs are now being made in the areas identified. We still need to have sidewalk inspections and possible repairs in Phase C. With this said, the safest place to walk is on the sidewalk, please use sidewalks whenever possible. We are also moving forward with possible crosswalks on streets that have been turned over to our HOA. We will continue to work on other areas that are not yet in our control. Our next task will be surveillance cameras. We are working to identify which cameras need to be replaced due to advances in technology, as well as having new cameras placed in new areas. Traffic seems to still be the hottest topic at each of our meetings. As most of you know a traffic survey was conducted in January. The survey confirmed that we have a big problem with speeding. We learned that in some areas we have 2,000 to 3,000 vehicles a day pass over the testing cables, and 60 to 70 percent of those vehicles were exceeding the posted speed limit of 30 mph. So, once again, for your safety and the safety of others please slow down, especially between the Lodge and the Summit. Please come to a complete stop at all stop signs, and yield to traffic when entering traffic circles. Please do NOT take shortcuts in the traffic circles, this is extremely dangerous. Yield to pedestrians who are trying to cross streets throughout our community. All of the above applies to golf carts as well. The next regular Safety Committee meeting will be held on Tuesday, Aug., 1 at 10 am in the RCN Conference Room. If you have any safety questions or concerns please join us. ~ Donna Lewis Safety Committee
