Beaumont Club Members voted to give the program $2,000 out of the Beaumont Club funds. The club then applied for a grant from Kiwanis CalNevHa District to match funds out of the Pediatric Trauma Prevention Program. Kiwanis Pediatric Trauma Prevention is a program Kiwanis has established to help prevent injuries to our youth. Over the years Kiwanis CalNevHa District has contributed thousands of dollars to California Nevada and Hawaii clubs for special preventive programs. Kiwanis Clubs throughout the world give back to their communities any way they can to help the community and the youth in their area. Beaumont Kiwanis was pleased to receive a check in the amount of $2,000 matching the Beaumont Kiwanis donation. On Thursday, June 22, at our weekly meeting, a $4,000 check was presented to the Junior All American Football Program. Sean Thuilliez, President of the league accepted the check for new football equipment. The money the football program received will go toward the purchase football shoulder pads and helmets for the upcoming season and for many seasons thereafter. Thuilliez said "the shoulder pads and helmets will prevent injuries and make the game safer for the kids involved." The JAAF Beaumont Cougars were formed in 1994 and last season approximately 176 kids ranging in age from 7 to 14 years participated in this great program. Recently they began a flag football program that serves children whose ages are 4 to 7 years. The Cheer program participates in a regional competition for children ages 4 to 14. The youth program is supported by many volunteers who help teach the kids the fundamentals of football and cheer, while instilling teamwork, dedication, discipline and character. It should be mentioned Thuilliez is also an active Beaumont Kiwanis member and the Beaumont Chief of Police. Sean is very involved in our community. Service clubs in the area need more members like him. To get involved in Kiwanis call Buzz Dopf at (909) 208-0880 or come to one of our meetings. We meet in the Lodge Conference Room. Kiwanis meets at night on the second, third, and fourth Thursdays each month. Drive to the main gate between 5:30 and 6:30 pm, let them know you're going to the Kiwanis meeting and the guards will direct you to the Lodge. ~ Buzz Dopf Receiving the check Sean Thuilliez; presenting check President Buzz Dopf and John McLaughlin.
