FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | AUGUST 2017 47 What an amazing group of wonderful women attend "Believe…" Women's Bible Study! Many friendships have been formed through the fellowship and camaraderie everyone finds there. Plus, we all have things in common: Our love for God and His beautiful Word. After completing our study of Revelation, we began an eight-week series on the subject "Living Like a Superhero." The kickoff lesson was preceded by a showing of "Impossible Dreamers," an inspirational documentary about how seniors are staying active with their sights set on healthy living and longevity. Our first lesson's subject was strength: mind, body and spirit. The word strength and its derivatives are mentioned 360 times in the Bible, and is a good beginning focal point for this series. The series will be broken up, however, for four weeks while Mary Baer leads that four-week discussion period. We will recommence the "Living Like a Superhero" discussions on Sept. 8. Also on Sept. 8 we will have a birthday party for one of our members who is turning 100! After we complete the "Living Like a Superhero" series, we will begin a study of the more obscure books in the Bible, like Micah, Nahum, Haggai, Jude, etc. This should be fun, enlightening and uplifting. If you are interested in becoming part of a wonderful group of Godly women, come by the Card Room any Friday from 10:30 to 11:45 am and join us. We'll be looking for you! ~ Eileen Gilbert-Antoine "Believe…" Women's Bible Study Life Guide Bible Study We will continue our summer break through the month of August and resume weekly meetings with our annual Fall Potluck at the Summit on Tuesday, Sept. 12 at 6 pm. Regular participants will receive phone calls regarding food contributions. We invite interested residents to join us in learning from God's Word. Our regular Bible Study meets at 7 pm each Tuesday in the third section of the Ballroom (unless otherwise announced), beginning Sept. 19. Please contact Doc or Letha Sellars with any questions or comments at (951) 797-3302 or docletha72@gmail.com. ~ Doc Sellars We welcome all interested Four Seasons residents who want to connect to Judaism, its culture, and celebrations. In the coming months, we have planned several events. On July 16, our monthly Movie & A Bagel Bash Night featured Loving Leah, the romantic comedy about the ins-and-outs of a complicated marriage contract. A Bagel & Lox & Cream Cheese Bash preceded at the Lodge. On Thursday, Aug. 10, our New Committee Members Meeting will take place at the home of Ernie and Dr. Zee Knapp's home, 6:30 to 8 pm. Everyone is welcome to bring their ideas for activities for the coming year. Interest has been expressed to create a Chavurah Book Club, travel group, joint events with other organizations, etc. Light refreshments will be served. To forward names of others interested in our activities, see the contacts below. On Aug. 19, the Bagel & Lox & Cream Cheese Event will continue with another outstanding Movie and Bagel Bash. Starting at 6 pm, refreshments will be served followed by the movie at 6:45 pm. Look for flyers posted in the Lodge and Electronic Bulletin Board. The club is organizing a Pink Ribbon Challah Bake with SharSheret, a national cancer program. Our third culinary event will be called the Pre-holiday "Challah Bake & Specialty Spreads." Look for details of this event where all participant bakers will have the opportunity to make their own delicious, pink braided breads called, "challah," with toppings of poppy or sesame seeds. Each participant will receive a packet of information on breast and ovarian cancer, as well and many wonderful surprises. Following the rolling and braiding of the dough and covering with seeds, everyone will bake their challah and be able to taste their delicious breads. A"smear" will take place where everyone brings a spread, or "smear" to cover or drip on the pieces of challah, such as chopped liver, salmon spread, cream cheeses, honey butter, with varieties of flavors, as well as bring a delicious challah home for their family. Leading the bake will be the return of our Chef d' Elegante, a professional cook who will tell the story of her family's long history of baking. Don't miss this exciting event, stimulating discussion, and delicious evening. A minimal donation will cover all materials. Members of the Chavurah also enjoy joint social, cultural and religious get-togethers, and connections to other organizations in and around the community. For more information: Chavurah.time@aol.com, or call Nancy Justice, (951) 769-5804, and Ernie and Dr. Zee Knapp, (714) 423-4755. ~ Dr. Zee Knapp Chavurah (Ha-Vu-Rah) Jewish Social Club Intercessory Prayer group Greetings intercessors, friends and neighbors! The intercessory prayer group invites you to come and join us on Monday, Aug. 7, in the Game Room at 9 am. How many times have you heard someone say, there is not enough time in the day to finish my work? Many of us retired just to return to the work place again. Life is so short, and this is why we should stop and take a few minutes to reflect on important things that really matter. Remember the song that came out in 1988 by Bobby McFerrin - "Don't Worry Be Happy"? Do just that! Don't worry. There is an answer to every problem. There are times we need direction, and one way is to sit quietly in your favorite chair and be still. Your goal is to slow down, and relax. Don't think about anything. Before you know it, the stress of the day has disappeared. Men need a man cave, but women need a quiet place just to unwind. We all need a place to escape, so find your secret place and rest there. See you on Aug.. 7 in the Game Room at 9 am. Everyone is welcome. ~ Cookie Bonner
