36 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | AUGUST 2017 | The Bocce regular season is over, thank goodness because we beat the heat. The players enjoyed the Bocce Banquet and celebrated those folks who took first and second place from a very competitive play off. Chicken Parmesan was on the menu, and Bill Ashdown provided the entertainment for the evening. The play off was a little warm that day, but we got through it thanks to Orville Ellingworth. He organized a schedule that was fair to all teams and produced the best teams out there this year. I would like to take the opportunity to thank all the teams who participated this year, and our goal is to try and increase the membership for our next season. We will have a two-week game schedule in the fall, for those that enjoy playing, as an introductory game for new players. Thank you Bocce Committee for helping make tough decisions that eventually helped all our players play a more relaxed and easy-to-understand game. Your ideas have made bocce what it is today. Please watch for events scheduled in the Herald and flyers placed at the information counter in the Lodge. Many thanks. ~ Chairperson, Ross Brunetto. The Shuffleboard Club is taking a break through the summer days and the warm temperatures that accompany this time of year. Some players cannot get enough of shuffleboard playing, so you will see them on the courts Monday mornings. They are willing to give lessons to those who would like to try playing, and who will possibly join the Shuffleboard Club in the spring, and participate in the Fall Scramble games. All these folks you see in the picture above had a great time and would like you to do the same. How about joining them this October for a two week sprint game, and enjoy a luncheon to socialize with all the players. Watch this section of the Herald for information about sign-ups next month. ~ Chairperson, Ross Brunetto, Co-Chairperson, Sue Malarkey Shuffleboard Bocce First place team players are Dave Scott (team captain), Ernie Marsicano, Jim Gates and Van Eychaner Second place this year are team players Patt Gililland, Bobbie Davis, Trish Manley, Chuck Sims (spare tire), and Team Captain Steve Ariano Players had a great season and hope you will join them Shuffleboard and Bocce Scramble Games Sign Up at Information Counter We will play on four Thursdays in October beginning Oct. 5.
