12 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | AUGUST 2017 | Access Control Committee As a continuation to the transponder replacement/RFID project, we are providing information on the technical side of that we want to accomplish. We discussed in the last month's Herald article, that we are intending to use the "Break-on-Removal" RFID tags mounted to each authorized vehicle's headlight. The "headlight" was selected because there are too any technical issues with other locations such as windshield, bumpers, license- plates etc. The placement of this RFID tag is based on years of industry recommendations, and technical data from our suppliers that ensures that this is the most secure and efficient position. Therefore it has been determined that wherever possible the position for the new tag on the resident's vehicle will be the "headlight." The Board of Directors has agreed with this placement, and that it is necessary for reliability. This means that any attempt made to remove or replace this Tag after installation will result in its self destruction, plus it will mean additional cost to the homeowner to replace it. Question: What does the Tag consist of? Answer: This TAG is a flexible thin film adhesive circuit that if you look closely at the tag, you will notice that is has some circuitry around the periphery with a black "Chip" in the center. The fundamental difference between this new chip and the old Transponder is the way this new "chip" signal is processed. The Reader (this is the flat square item you see mounted above the gate as you enter the facility) has added circuitry that allows it to be able to transmit a signal to the "chip" to activate it, once activated the "chip" will then send a return signal back to the Reader. (This is a signal that we have programmed into your RFID chip when you come to the Lodge to have this devise installed) this tells it to open the gate. All of this takes place in micro-seconds, so you will probably not notice any more of a delay than you already experience with the current transponder system. RFID Tag RFID Reader .76" As reported at the July 26 Board of Directors meeting, the Access Control Committee vetted several companies to bid for contracting the management of our community access control and roving patrol functions. After six months of interviewing, reviewing, visiting vendor sites and diligent vetting, the ACC recommended to the BOD that Southwest Security was the vendor of choice. Southwest Security President and owner Jason Jackson gave a brief presentation of his company for our residents at the BOD meeting. Jason comes with 20 years experience in the industry both in Riverside and Imperial Counties as the General Manager of Desert Security before starting his own business, Southwest Security. Southwest serves a variety of clients such as retail, hospitals, law enforcement, county offices, and one of his largest HOA clients is PGA West in LaQuinta. We are very excited to bring Southwest Security services to our community because we will have more "value-added" opportunities for community safety and awareness in the near future. Please take note and change your "speed dial" number for Roving Patrol to the new telephone number (760) 791-2318. As a reminder, should you encounter an emergency either at your home or within our community, always call 911 first. Here is a sample of the new uniform look for patrol (vehicle will be a SUV with Four Seasons Hemet logo) and gatehouse officers. The ACC will introduce all Southwest Security personnel in future editions of the Herald. ACC Welcomes Southwest Security
