28 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | AUGUST 2017 | Karaoke Hi everybody and welcome to the karaoke corner. I'm wondering, has anybody else encountered "THE PHANTOM?" I hope not! I had to run down to the Lodge the other night to get my speaker stands out of the storage room, and the young lady at the desk unlocked the storage room door for me and said to make sure I locked it when I was through. I noticed it was eerily quiet, even in the dimly lit Ballroom. As I walked into the storage room, the light came on as I took a step inside, and I noticed a shadow moving swiftly to my left and going behind the shelves. I stopped moving and said "hello," no answer. I crouched down a little and tried to peer through the shelves, nothing moved. I walked straight ahead to the far wall and looked down the aisle to the right for my stands. As I turned, I felt an icy presence brush by me and before I could move, the door slammed shut and the light went out. I said "Hey what the…" then all of a sudden it got cold. It was freezing in there. I couldn't see anything. I held out my hand to feel my way to the door but something pushed my arm down. I raised my arm again and started in the direction of the door and I ran into the corner of the shelf. I was completely disoriented and had no idea which way to go. Something turned me, and as I walked I tripped over something and went to the floor. As I lay on the floor I could see a sliver of light coming under the door from the Ballroom, I started to crawl towards it and when I got to the light I reached up and opened the door. When the door opened the light came on. As I scrambled to my feet I turned and saw the shadow move behind the shelves again. I yelled, "hey you," but again, no answer. I decided I didn't need my stands after all. I'll come back another time. If you have to go in there, be very careful, don't go alone, and don't go at night, it's there, waiting in the dark. Oh, by the way, karaoke will be on Sun., Aug. 13 in the Ballroom at 2 pm. See you there, and for an added bonus… first one there gets to go in the storage room to get my speaker stands. ~Bill
