I have two topics I would like to address today that are totally different. First, some of us have become very sloppy in how we treat our course. The ground crew can provide us with a pristine beautifully manicured golf course, but it is up to us to do our part in keeping it that way. Lately a number of complaints have been received relating to not raking the bunkers, not fixing fairway and greens divots, and finding cigarette and cigar butts all over the course. Let's keep our sand bottles full and use them when needed. Lets' keep a divot tool or tee in our pocket so we can fix our green divots. Lets' not be in such a hurry that we fail to rake the bunkers properly. Finally, I do not care if you smoke or do not, but if you do, please keep a can or ash tray in your carts and do not litter the course with your butts. Lets' do our part in keeping our course as great as it is. The Board has approved the Banning High School Golf Team to use Sun Lakes as their home course beginning in September. They will be playing nine hole competitions one day a week at about 3:30 pm. The girl's team plays in the fall and the boys in the spring. In addition, Al has worked out a schedule with their coach to have some practice sessions on our range, again in the later afternoon. How can you help? We need equipment to help these kids get started. Men's and women's clubs. If you have clubs you are not using anymore we would like to have them to give to these kids. Please gather those unused clubs up and bring them to the Pro Shop. We will get them to the high school for distribution. We don't care what kind they are, or how old they are. As long as they are in useable condition. We are also looking for interested mentors who would like to work with the kids, men and women. The coach knows we have a lot of good players with teaching experience who could help his kids and is anxious to get their assistance. If you are interested in being a mentor, or have questions about this program give me a call at 769-7922. Thanks in advance for your help.
