un stuff in sun lakes! HUNTINGTON HARBOUR "CRUISE OF LIGHTS" Mon., Dec. 17, 3:30 - 10:30 pm, $73 pp, includes dinner. Light up the holidays with an evening cruise through Huntington Harbour! The fun begins with dinner at the "Claim Jumper Restaurant". You'll enjoy hearty portions in a comfortable atmosphere featuring huge Douglas Fir logs, natural rock, corrugated and pressed tin, and large fireplaces. You'll have plenty of time to relax and enjoy dinner. After dinner, everyone will head to Huntington Harbour for the 50th annual "Cruise of Lights." Every December, the residents spend days decking the halls for all to see as they cruise by. Hundreds of these exclusive homes, docks, decks, and boats are adorned with twinkling lights, mechanical displays, and Nativity scenes. There is no prettier sight than the reflection of the lights upon the calm water of the channel. The narrated cruise lasts approximately 50 minutes and the boat offers inside and outside viewing. Bundle up and come along for Huntington's annual "Cruise of Lights!" MENU: Choice of: Roasted Tri-tip, Chicken Pot Pie, or Fish and Chips. All entrees include red velvet cupcake, and coffee, ice tea, or soda. Clay Creations Open House Fri., Oct. 26, 10 am – 12 pm, Main Clubhouse Arts and Crafts Room. Please stop by the Arts and Crafts Room on Oct. 26, from 10 am - 12 noon. Each student has created beautiful pieces of work that will be on display. Come see what the class is all about! BASKETBALL INTEREST LIST The Recreation Department has been approached by numerous residents to have a basketball hoop purchased to be able to shoot baskets or play 3 vs. 3. Unfortunately, with our limited space this has been hard to accommodate this request. However, we would like to suggest using the North Clubhouse Tennis courts as an option when they are not being used by tennis players. If there is enough interest, hopefully an agreeable schedule can be developed. If you are interested, please put your name on the interest list at the Main Clubhouse reception desk. Please give any feedback to the Recreation Director at 769-6651. NORTH CLUBHOUSE FITNESS EQUIPMENT REPLACEMENT The HOA will be replacing the cardio equipment at the North Clubhouse this year. This includes the treadmills, ellipticals, upright bikes, and recumbent bikes. The Recreation Department will be offering an "Expo/ Demo" day on Mon., Oct. 22, 1 - 5 pm in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom for residents to explore various new equipment options. We will be inviting three to four companies and they will have information and equipment displayed in the Ballroom. We would love to have your feedback, so please attend! CLUBS AND GROUP EMAILS We would like to ask members of clubs and groups to be mindful of the material you are emailing out to other Club/Group members. Please ensure you are only sending professional material, not anything of a political, religious, or ethnic nature. Fall Craft Show Fri., Nov. 2, and Sat., Nov. 3, 9 am – 2 pm. Come on out and start your holiday shopping with unique gifts and crafts made by Sun Lakes residents! All residents and their guests are welcome to stop by to enjoy our Annual Holiday Craft Show with Free Admission and door prizes will be given away each day. Registration packets for vendors will be available in the Main Clubhouse Lobby flyer rack. Registration will begin on Wed., Oct. 3, at 8 am in the Bus Room. recreation department | october 2012 | 9
