Halloween Doggie Parade Sat., Oct. 27, 10 am, on the Driving Range. The Recreation Department will be hosting our 2nd Annual Halloween Doggie Costume Parade. The parade will take place at the Main Clubhouse Veranda and Driving Range. This event is $3 to register. There will be prizes given out to the costume winners. Prizes include 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in addition to "Most Scary, " "Most Glamorous," and "Most Creative." All 4-legged participants will receive a treat for their participation. Light beverages provided for all! Please sign up with the Recreation Department on Tues., Oct. 2. Fall Garage Sales Start cleaning out those garages for our Fall Garage Sales. Sales are 8 am – 4 pm. Residents are asked to have any remaining items that did not sell back into their homes after the garage sale. Dates and district participation is as follows: Oct. 6: Dists. 1, 4, 6, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13; Oct. 13: Dists. 14, 15, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23; Oct. 20: Dists. 2, 3, 5, 7, 16, 17. HOA GARAGE SALE The HOA will be hosting a garage sale to sell holiday and decorating items that will no longer be used by the association. There are items such as small wreaths, Christmas bulbs, caroler figures, snowman figures, baskets, and other household decorations. Join us in the Main Clubhouse Parking lot on Fri., Oct. 5, 8:30 – 11 am. Health Seminar ATTENTION VETERANS Thurs., Oct. 12, 10 - 11:30 am, Main Clubhouse Ballroom. Veterans Burial Benefit Program will be presenting the October Health Seminar sponsored by VNA California. Veterans Burial Benefit Program is a program to inform and assist veterans and their families on what their burial benefits are in advance. The majority of veterans are not aware of what they are entitled to and what documents will be needed to use them. We will share information regarding the Riverside National Cemetery and answer questions. "The Veteran's Burial Benefit Program's goal is to reach out to all of our veterans so they can benefit from this important information and have peace of mind for themselves and their families." Info., Jalene Wells, 313-4610. sun lakes veteran walk Nov. 10, 9:30 – 11:30 am, Main Clubhouse, sign-ups start Mon., Sept. 10. Please join us on this day to honor all who have served for our country. This Veteran Walk is going to be held inside Sun Lakes. It will be a 2 mile walk around Country Club Drive to Riviera, and back up Country Club Drive to the Main Clubhouse. All of the proceeds from this event are going to the Wounded Warrior Project. Registration forms can be picked up in the Recreation Office. The cost is $20 per person and includes a goodie bag with an event t-shirt, race bib, continental breakfast after the race, and the opportunity to listen to two decorated veterans during the breakfast. Sign ups start Mon., Sept. 10.
