CLUBS & GROUPS Seasoned Solos October will be a busy month for us. Oct. 5, will be the regular monthly planning meeting and more outings could be added at that time. The activities planned so far include a trip to Idyllwild on Sat., Oct. 6. We will browse the shops and have lunch. Travel News We met last month to discuss the upcoming trip "Discover Switzerland, Austria and Bavaria" that we are taking in April of 2013. As I have mentioned, this is an 11-day land trip in which we will be staying in two hotels and venturing out to enjoy the beauty of this part of Europe. The last date to make reservations is Oct. 12, and after that date the price will go up. If you need more information about this trip please call Melody at (769) 2769-2774 and I will be happy to give you all the details. Also remember Oct. 20, we will be having our first Travel Expo with representatives from Gadabout Tours, Celebrity Cruise Lines and Collette Vacations. This will be your chance to ask questions and find out a bit more of what these companies have to offer. The Expo will start at 6 pm and refreshments will be served. Since we live in a 55+ community, there are several single people or one of a couple who like to travel but, with the single supplement, it can be very costly. What I am proposing is starting a list of people who would like to find a traveling companion for "Travel Buddies." If you would like to send me your name, telephone number, age, sex, smoking or non-smoking, do you snore, do you prefer land trips or cruises, if a cruise do you prefer inside or outside cabin, then I will put together a list and maintain it. Then when you are planning a trip and need a traveling companion you could just call and I will send you a copy of the list so you can contact someone you think might fit your personality. ~ Melody Seewoster On Oct. 18, we will drive to the Bowers Museum in Santa Ana for the exhibit of "Faberge: Imperial Jeweler to the Tsars." This promises to be a real treat. Peter Carl Faberge, the master goldsmith and legendary jeweler is still celebrated for his inventive designs and craftsmanship. Best known for Imperial Easter Eggs created for the Russian Royal family, this exhibit includes jewelry, clocks, picture frames, boxes and eggs. In keeping with the Halloween season, on Oct. 25, the group will go to Redlands for the murder mystery dinner theatre at The Old Spaghetti Factory. The guests will have parts and participate in The Legend of Sleepy Hollow-Point. This is a humorous presentation and if a guest correctly solves the crime they will win a prize.
