14 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | SEPTEMBER 2017 | We have some exciting news! We will be hosting our Four Seasons author, Lynne Spreen, Sept. 19, at 2 pm, in the Multipurpose Room. Lynne is an enthusiastic speaker who loves writing and loves books! She will have her books there (three at this writing) to be signed if you purchase any. Come and be inspired to start something new! We will serve light refreshments so mark your calendar right away. Now, welcome to your Four Seasons beautiful library! It is created by you, the residents, and maintained by a committee that loves both Four Seasons AND books! It's a hard working group that really enjoys their job. We are also excited about the Fall Marketplace in October. We have some great surprises in store for our library friends but I'll write about that next month. Plan on being in the Ballroom Oct. 28 and visit our booth. We want to thank the individuals who have donated all of the new hardbound and paperback books. We so appreciate you. Our paperback books are displayed from 2013-2017. The larger sized paperbacks remain packed. We no longer can display the large Reader Digest books. They will go straight to the Hemet library. We just don't have the room. I have been reading great books lately thanks to the generosity of our residents. Our magazine rack seems to be bare more often than not. For that reason we will display the last four months instead of three. Please donate your May, June, July and August 2017 magazines to our library. The one exception are the National Geographics. They are timeless, any year will be accepted. I have been writing this for so long that we have a very large amount of them. Please hold them for right now. Remember we do take all other magazines, any month, to the downtown library. They are displayed and given free to the community. A short reminder, today I received two different sets of cards from organizations wanting a contribution. I have put them aside for the Hemet Library as these are not cards I would use. We happily donate downtown as well as calendars. Bring them to us and we'll transport them. If you have taken several books by one author please return a few so other residents can enjoy them. We would, of course, appreciate all books returned. Remember, our library works on the honor system. All books are the property of Four Seasons and have been purchased by our residents. Please respect this. Be aware that non-residents outside the community aren't allowed to borrow books unless they are staying with you and you are the responsible party. From Blair: Without libraries what have we? We have no past and no future. ~ Ray Bradbury Library worker bee Scotty read Endangered by C. J. Box Wyoming game warden Joe Pickett, working to find who had slaughtered a flock of sage grouse, gets word that his 18 year old daughter had been beaten and dumped in a ditch along a highway. April had run off with Dallas Cates, a local rodeo champion. Cates denies having anything to do with it, saying that April had left him days before she was found. But Joe knows in his gut that Dallas was responsible. What he did not know was the kind of danger that proving it was going to have, resulting from Cates's family protecting Dallas. Library Committee
