40 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | SEPTEMBER 2017 | Int'l Culture Club The second Thursday in September we will enjoy a South American themed night celebrating the country of Brazil. So get ready to have a fun-filled evening dancing to the music of the Sophisticats starting at 6 pm. Ballroom doors open at 5:30 pm, so you have plenty of time to get settled before the music starts. You will find a pre-set dinner salad of tossed hearts of palm lettuce with tomato and onions at your table, along with sourdough rolls with butter. Our buffet menu consists of kielbasa sausage with green bell peppers, cajon chicken pasta, red beans, and rice. The dinner buffet starts at 6:30 pm by table call, and is generally over by 7:30 pm. The two buffet tables have two serving lines, so the line should move quickly. Your dessert of rice pudding with cinnamon and sugar, along with a fried banana garnish will be table served. Coffee and water will also be served to tables. Iced tea is on a sideboard in the room. You can sign up for the evening on the first Thursday afternoon at 3 pm. It costs $24 for members, and $27 for a non-resident guest. You can become a club member at this sign up by bringing a separate check of $25 pp. If you cannot attend after signing up, you can get your check back by calling Carol Hurt at 769-1315 by Sunday afternoon after sign up. Also, if you missed sign up, call Carol by that Sunday, she can assign a table to you. If you cannot attend at the last minute, call her for a take-out meal box. Info., Diane Hofler, 769-9308. This month starts a new season with some FREE activities for residents that are interested in learning about the club. Please come and check us out without any obligation. The first free activity will be very basic beginner line dance instruction on Mon., Sept. 11, at 7 pm in the South Clubhouse. This class is for very beginners and those that need a refresher. So come and give it a try. The second free activity will be basic couples dance instruction on Tues., Sept. 12 , at 7 pm in the South Clubhouse. All couples are invited to come, but especially those that haven't done country western dancing but would like to learn. The third free activity will be a traditional Country Western dance. This will be Fri., Sept. 15, from 7 to 9 pm in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom. At these dances we do three line dance and then two couples dances throughout the evening. We understand that beginners are reluctant to come to the Friday dances, but come, see what we do, meet some nice people and be entertained watching the "experienced" dancers try to remember how to do the dances. The other line dance instructions this month are Mondays, Sept. 18, and 25, again at 7 pm at the South Clubhouse. Everyone can come to these instruction dates. A second couples dance instruction will be Tues., Sept. 26, 7 pm at the South Clubhouse. There is no charge for couples instruction. So there you have it. A full September of activities for beginners and for our more experienced dancers. Info., Joe or Jean, 769-9148. Country Western Dance
