Women's Golf We play a variety of weekly golf games and scheduled tournaments on our Championship Course on Thursdays and on the first Saturday of each month. The first Thursday of each month is a Scramble or a Shamble, followed by our General Meeting and luncheon. In addition to our regular weekly games, we have nine major tournaments scheduled this year, including our Member/Guest Invitational Tournament and the Extravaganza, which is co-ed and played with members of the Sun Lakes Men's Golf Club. Tournaments are flighted. Our $65 annual membership fee includes a WSCGA-sanctioned handicap (Women's Southern California Golf Association). To obtain the handicap, you will need to play five 18-hole rounds on the Championship course. If you are looking for an enjoyable challenge and the camaraderie of our many golf sisters, please join us. Applications are available in the Main Pro Shop and on our Sun Lakes website. For more information, please contact Membership Chair Sharon Kealy 797-3031, email skealy63@gmail.com. We welcome new and returning members. Lady Niners For Lady Niners, it is the time of the year for the Club Championship. This tournament consists of three golf rounds throughout September. For those members not competing for the championship, they will continue to play their regular rounds of golf. For the upcoming months, until further notice, all Lady Niners will be playing from the "forward tees," thus keeping score on a consistent level for proper "handicap" evaluation. Be sure to enter your scores correctly in the computer under "forward tees." On Mon., Sept. 18, Lady Niners will travel to an "Away Tournament" to Soboba. This golf outing will be followed by lunch. Come and make this a special outing. Lady Niners golf offers a unique experience for women golfers. We play nine holes of golf each Thursday. Each member carries a GHIN handicap, thus allowing us to compete in all tournaments. We welcome new members. For further information, please call Peg at 845-9742. She would be happy to answer any questions that you may have. Hope to see you on the course! The Summer Tournament was a hot one! For the first time we actually took two days off for heat! Looking ahead: Summer Tournament playoffs are Aug. 28 and 29. Typically we wind up with ties in various divisions that must be decided before we can determine the semi-finalists and then the finalists. Those ties will be determined on Monday, the 28th. To further complicate the Summer Tournament, we have only three divisions of AA, A and B and so must choose the next best team in each division, the wild card, since we need four teams per division to make up the semi-finals. No one ever said this would be easy! Soooooo, the semi-finals and finals will be on the 29th, starting at 5 pm. Come on out and watch the action! The Fall Tournament will begin the week of Sept. 11. Entries must be in by Sept. 1. The Tournament runs nine weeks, ending the week of Nov. 6, with pre-playoffs the 13th and finals the 14th. Teams will have the choice of Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday this fall, as we expect many more teams will sign up for this Tournament. This is the only tournament when we play a split schedule: we continue the summer times 5, 6, 7, and 8 pm the whole month of September, changing to 3, 4, 5, and 6 pm in October as the weather cools off. Your schedules will reflect the change. Members pay just the team fee, $3 each, $12 per team. New members, joining for the last tournament of the year, pay $6 to join the club, plus $3 team fee. Take your entry to 1288 Pleasant Valley. There is a box at her door. Questions, call Dutch, 845-0392. See you on the courts! Friends of Bocce
