World Osteoporosis Day is Oct. 20. This is the perfect time
to start trying to prevent this disease if you haven't started
already. Osteoporosis is a disease the eats away at your bone
marrow causing it to lose density and become more brittle. This
in turn will make you more susceptible to breaks when you fall
or injure yourself. It is very important to remember to get your
Bone Density screening done once a year, and what better time
than now. Here are a few tips on how to prevent the onset of
osteoporosis and how to gain back some of that very important
bone marrow.
• Drink milk regularly.
• Eat more fish.
• Limit protein to 50 grams daily for women, 63 grams for
men.
• Limit caffeine to three cups a day.
• Get on a regular program of weight-bearing exercise.
