20 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | OCTOBER 2017
Emergency preparedness committee
I was just asked if I had prepared an article for the October issue of
the Breeze for the Emergency Preparedness Committee. Talk about
Emergency Preparedness!
My thoughts turned to our community's lack of interest in
assisting/supporting this committee; ergo, lack of volunteers. No
one person or small group of individuals can effectively structure this
critical program which needs input from a vast group of experienced
individuals such as paramedics, firefighters, retired military, police
officers, nurses and doctors, as well as enthusiastic volunteers.
Over the past several weeks, our country has experienced,
firsthand, how hurricanes of unprecedented proportions have
affected Texas and Florida. In Texas, we have seen how a community,
county and state pulled together to take care of their own. Can we say
the same for Four Seasons? Based on our community commitment
to this program it is my opinion that we would be in serious jeopardy.
With these serious events taking place, I ask for volunteers to help
establish and prepare this vital committee PRIOR to a major disaster
in our immediate areas and community.
I'm hoping this message will pique your interest to become
involved and make a difference prior to a disaster affecting our
community.
Next EPC meeting is scheduled for Oct. 19 at 10 am in the RCN
Room. Hope to see you there! ~ Susie Jennings
