30 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | OCTOBER 2017
Brass Band Interest Group
Are you interested in playing in a brass quartet, quintet, or larger
ensemble? This is for you! Do you play a brass section instrument—
trumpet, cornet, or fluegelhorn; trombone, alto horn, tenor horn,
baritone, or euphonium; or of course tuba? Are you able to play at
a three-years-of-high-school-band level or above? Then this call is
definitely for you. Let's start a band!
Rehearsals will be once a week, for 90 minutes or 90 minuets,
whichever comes first. Style of music: TBD, but we would want to
start with fairly simple arrangements of standards, classical pieces,
and/or hymns.
I, your group organizer, play an E-flat alto horn (a fairly unusual,
smaller cousin of the baritone horn). I would be happy to link up with
even just a few others. For instance, an alto horn with two trumpets
would work just fine. However, if enough players are interested, what
I have in mind is a British Brass Band style of group. (If "British
Brass Band" doesn't mean anything to you, think "Salvation Army
Band" and you'll have the basic idea.)
Possible name of the band: The Brass Bedouins. The plan is to
rehearse in anticipation of performances at special times of the year:
Christmas, Mardi Gras, Easter, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, and
Veterans Day, etc. But all of this can flex depending on the interests
and schedules of the band members.
If your interest is piqued then come find the sign-up sheet in the
Lodge lobby and let's connect! ~ Will Eisenhower
