FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | OCTOBER 2017 47 We welcome all residents who want to connect to Judaism, its culture, and celebrations. In the coming months, we've planned several outstanding events. In August we held a New Committee Members Meeting. Ideas for activities included forming a Book Club, travel group, joint events with other organizations, etc. To forward names of others interested in our activities, see the contacts at the end of the article. On Aug. 19, the attendees participated in a Bagel, Lox and Cream Cheese Bash before the outstanding movie Woman in Gold. In September, local temples and other organizations contacted us to sponsor and/or co-host Oneg (food) events or prepare programs for the holidays and festivals. We will notify our email lists of upcoming events. Because of its popularity, Movie and Bagel Bash will be every third Sunday of the month in the Lodge Theater at 6 pm. Refreshments are at 6 pm, and movie starts at 6:45 pm. Anyone interested in hosting, contact us. Look for future movie announcement flyers in the Lodge and electronic bulletin board. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to share desserts prior to the movie. For more information, to volunteer, or to make suggestions, please contact Nancy Justice, Event Chairperson, (951) 769-5804, or Ernie and Dr. Zee Knapp, Chairs, Social Committee, (714) 423-4755. We are organizing a Pink Ribbon Challah Bake with SharSheret, a national cancer program. Our third culinary event will be called the pre-holiday 'Challah Bake and Specialty Spreads.' Look for more details of this event where all participants will have the opportunity to make their own delicious, pink braided breads called, 'Challah,' with toppings of poppy or sesame seeds. Each baker will receive a packet of information on Breast and Ovarian Cancer and other surprises. Following the rolling and braiding of the dough and covering with seeds, everyone will bake their challah and taste their delicious breads. A 'smear' will take place where everyone brings a spread, or 'smear' to cover or drip on the pieces of challah, such as chopped liver, salmon spread, cream cheeses, honey butter, with varieties of flavors. Leading the bake will be our Chef d' Elegante, a professional cook who will tell the story of her family's history of baking. Don't miss this event, discussion, and delicious evening. A minimal donation will cover materials. Members also enjoy social, cultural and religious get-togethers, and connections to other organizations.
