FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | OCTOBER 2017 57
Tails & Trails - All Pets
We are pleased to present our second annual Blessing of
the Pets. Mark your calendar for Saturday, Oct. 7, starting at
4 pm in the Lodge parking lot just outside RCN.
Four Seasons' own Reverend Jean Laurin will officiate
this special event. Bring your leashed dogs, crated cats,
caged birds, or any appropriately-contained furry, finny, or
scaly family member(s) to be part of this touching tradition.
All we ask is that you abide by the guidance provided by our
event attendants so we can maintain a safe environment for
all our pets as they wait for their blessing.
The blessing of pets is associated with the feast of St.
Francis of Assisi, Patron Saint of Animals and a man ahead
of his time in recognizing humanity's kinship with all of
nature. Although Francis of Assisi is a Catholic Saint, the
pet blessing is suitable for those of any faith or of no faith
and Reverend Jean graciously customizes each blessing to
your wishes. Regardless of your faith, the pet blessing is a
profound way to express the joy animals bring to our lives
and the love we share with them every day. If you'd like to
learn more about this beautiful tradition, a Google search
will turn up many events of this type as well as the origins
of the celebration.
