62 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | OCTOBER 2017 Ping Pong Fun, Fitness, Friendship: Well, if you've been by The Courts and peeked into the ping pong room, you have seen a remarkable sight. More and more people are enjoying using the new space and the three tables, which are available all day. With new residents moving in, more people are feeling comfortable coming in to play. With extended club hours, our club membership has visibly grown! You will see people playing doubles and playing singles, depending on how many players show up. You may see a few residents who work during the day playing in the evenings. You may see friendly neighborhood groups getting together certain afternoons, outside club hours, enjoying their own versions of ping pong competitions. At our general membership meeting, a few ideas were discussed: Thursday mornings from 10 am to 12 noon, more experienced players will be available to work with beginning players; pizza parties and other events will be scheduled to promote inclusion of new players; and club play time will have no restrictions, no levels, and at least one table for singles play when numbers allow. Concerns that were expressed included: keeping safety a priority; and, to avoid interrupting games in progress, enter the room through the outside kitchen door. Our club photo this month shows happy faces at our dinner party which followed our general membership meeting. We enjoyed hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken tenders, onion rings, fries, and salads all catered by Patsy's Country Kitchen Meal Wagon. Thank you to all who are participating in our CRV plastic, glass, and aluminum recycling fundraising program, as this makes these camaraderie- building events possible. Our club play hours are Monday - Saturday 10 am to 3 pm, with special advanced play Tuesdays 2 to 4 pm. Open play time is before and after club hours, and all day on Sundays (but all are welcome, so please feel free to join us during club hours). To get on our membership email list, please contact Alex at acasm2@ gmail.com. See you at the tables! ~ Sandra Butler-Roberts Ping Pong members enjoying a dinner party
