24 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | OCTOBER 2017 | Team Sunshine has been "shining" in this community for many years now. We are often surprised that some folks don't know about us and what we do. So, with that in mind, we offer information on some Sunshiners who make the team so special. Newcomers: Our Newcomers team is chaired by Rose Harvey (left). She is supported by Linda Adkins, Candace Hawley and Karen Brennon. This group makes it their business to deliver community information to new residents in Four Seasons. They knock on doors and dispense Four Seasons club, local Chamber of Commerce, and Team Sunshine information. Their smiling faces, with an attitude of "how may we help you," spreads the glow that Team Sunshine is famous for. Just saying. Desserts: Carole Barber (left) has chaired this team for several years and has done an outstanding job. Other team members are: Nancy Drake, Tami Baginski and Ann Baranek. These ladies contact the folks who supply Team Sunshine desserts for celebrations of life and other special occasions. This task is one of requesting services and they do it with such polite graciousness. We don't have enough kudos to express our appreciation to residents who provide homemade baked goods in the name of Sunshine. Thank you from all of us and especially from Carole's team. Cards: The Card team, consisting of Trish Moorhouse, Chair (left), Bev Habig, LaDean Hatcher, Sharon Uhlken and Kathy Poss take on the task of sending miscellaneous cards to our residents in Four Seasons who are need of cheer and/or comfort. Dave Habig generously adds his talent and time as the "dispenser" of the monthly Card/Phone Report. Dave also lends his talents as Team Sunshine photographer. Trish is another Sunshiner who has been in this position for several years. She has expanded her team and recipients of those sentiments have been so generous with their "thanks for thinking of me." Telephones: The Telephone team interfaces with the Card team. This group is chaired by Fabian Yaeger (left) and includes: Kathy Poss, Vangie Williams, Anne Balensiefer, and Janelle Budd. This team makes personal calls to those who are ill, had surgery or suffered loss. Each team member has a special gift of sincere concern and expresses what Team Sunshine's mission statement reveals: …whose purpose is to reach out to Four Seasons residents in their time of need, to provide education, and to spread goodwill. Programs: The Program team consists of Mary Swinney, Chair (left), Linda Adkins, Maggie Grimes, Sandy St. John, Rose Mary Garrison, Donna McLaughlin and Colleen Ferguson. This group has been extremely successful this year in bringing us many interesting, informative and diverse programs. They have presented important medical information to us, but have also included several light-hearted events as well. If you have program suggestions for this team, please contact Mary Swinney. She is always open to program suggestions. We will add other team information in the November Herald. We are an all volunteer group serving this community. We take great pride in being that "helping hand" when you need us. We would like you to get to know us better. Thank you. "You are our sunshine." Celebrations of Life: We gratefully report that, as we go to press, we have no Celebrations of Life to report. We are not always aware of the loss of loved ones in our community. We send our sincere and heartfelt condolences to those who have suffered loss. Team Sunshine is privileged to be that vehicle that assists residents with a memorial and/or Celebration of Life when requested. We encourage residents to call Margie Culton (491- 4058) or Brenda Beers (306-6670) for Team Sunshine information. They will direct you to the individual in Team Sunshine who can help with your concern. Thank you. Other Team Sunshine Information: A good source of Team Sunshine information is the Caring Connection Card which can be obtained at the Lodge front desk. Please stop by and pick up your copy. If you know of someone who has had surgery, recovering from an illness, etc., please contact Trish Moorhouse (909) 844-3852. She will contact her team members to send the appropriate card. This information is also passed to a "calling team." They will initiate a call as follow-up. Kindness Recognition: We encourage you to recognize those individuals in Four Seasons who have expressed a concern for others. Team Sunshine's kindness program is as easy as recording someone's special deed on a Kindness Card. These cards are found at the Lodge Front Desk or you can contact LaDean Hatcher (677- 7166 or email ladeepoo3@yahoo.com) who leads this effort. Closing Thoughts: "Slow down and enjoy life.
