FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | DECEMBER 2017 21 The Landscape Committee was first organized in 2006. As our community has grown and the original landscaping has matured, it is necessary to update procedures and widen responsibilities for committee members. The members all have a wide range of experience and gardening expertise. This committee will always have endless "to do" lists in regard to landscaping issues in our community. Gardens are never static, as they are living organisms that are ever-changing. As plants mature and grow taller and wider, it impacts the environment around them. Also, microclimates are easily altered as more homes are built and more streets added, which impacts the health of our plants. Walking is an integral part of the committee's responsibilities. To keep abreast of changes or problems in residential landscaping, maintenance issues on the hiking trails, and around our community buildings, we need to walk. On every walk, notes are made of issues to be addressed. These issues, plus recommendations, are then given to FirstService and the appropriate landscaping contractor in Four Seasons. It is necessary to then confirm that previous issues have been addressed and then make note of any new issues that have appeared in the meantime. The only way to keep track - we walk! If you notice any problem (e.g., a broken sprinkler, dead tree branch, or possible safety issues on the trail), contact Jeff Jordan with FirstService Management in the RCN Building. This is helpful to the committee as there may be an extended time period before the committee will "walk" the area. We meet the third Tuesday of the month at 1 pm in the RCN Conference Room. All homeowners are welcome to attend. ~ Doris San Filippo Landscape Committee
