48 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | DECEMBER 2017 A Gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towles was published in 2016 and quickly became an international bestseller. Meet Count Alexander Rostov who, in 1922, is sentenced by a Bolshevik tribunal to house arrest inside the Metropol, a luxury hotel across the street from the Kremlin. Although he can't leave, he uses his wits and resources to bring "a glittering cast of characters" into his life. Who are your favorites? How did they help the Count "gain deeper understanding of what it means to be a man of purpose?" Come join in the conversation about this delightful book on Tuesday, Dec. 12 at 9:30 am in the Lodge Conference Room. Everyone is welcome and newcomers are encouraged. January's selection will be Sunnyside by Glen David Gold. For more information about the Book Club, please contact Doreen Sanders at (951) 769-1913. ~ Sue Balt Book Club Kiwanis Club of Beaumont On Halloween several members handed out candy at the sport park, this was the Beaumont Police Department "Trunk or Treat" to give kids a safe place to "trick or treat." Hundreds of kids lined up to walk to all the participants to get their candy. It's December already and the year will soon be over. Several of our members also work with Winter Wish helping families in the community who need some assistance during the Christmas Season. The Kiwanis Club has taken on a family and will provide gifts for the children and food for the family. Also the club will give a donation to the Winter Wish Committee to help purchase gifts and food for several hundred children and families in our community that need assistance. The Beaumont Kiwanis Club meets in the Lodge Conference Room every Thursday except for the first Thursday of the month. The meeting starts at 6:30 pm, if you wish to order food at Smitty's prior to the meeting come in early, about 5:45 pm, and come into the meeting early. You do not need to be a resident of Four Seasons to attend a meeting. Call Buzz and we will have your name added to the list for gate entry. Due to the holiday season, the Kiwanis club will only meet on Dec. 14 this month. We will resume our normal meeting times in January. For information about our events and attending a meeting call Buzz Dopf at (909) 208-0880 or come to a meeting on Thursdays. Have a happy holiday season! ~ Buzz Dopf
