FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | DECEMBER 2017 9 By Michael Saperstein Many Four Seasons residents volunteer money, clothing, blankets and a great amount of time to Carol's Kitchen. They help serve and prepare food at six kitchens located in three different areas. A great amount of food and supplies are also donated by Albertson's, Aldi and Chipotle Restaurant. Carol's Kitchen was founded by Four Season residents Jim Ragan, who passed away in 2011, and his wife Arlene to honor their daughter who was killed by a drunk driver in 1996. Their goal was to honor her memory by feeding the homeless/ hungry in this area. The three locations are open Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays serving more than 1,000 hot meals every week! Guests can also receive supplemental groceries and donated clothing that they may need. Four Seasons resident Marty Bauer is the CEO & President of Carol's Kitchen, Inc. Residents Frank and Jackie Bott, Joyce and Phil Reiswig, Andi Henderson, and Pete Antoine are a few of our Four Seasons community members who have helped to serve more than 60,000 meals in 2016! If this opportunity to make a difference interests you, please go to the website at www. carolskitcheninc.org or contact someone at Carol's Kitchen directly. Veterans: The Beaumont Four Seasons Veterans Group headed by Irve Sturner holds no formal meetings, has no dues and has a website Honor Roll: fourseasonsvets.org with over 100 names of men and women here in our community. Len Tavernetti, our HOA Board President, does a great deal — meeting, attending and working with WWII, Vietnam and Desert Wars veterans, and especially those who were wounded. He also visits grave markers with flags on third Fridays every month. Each Veterans Day on Nov. 11 here in Four Seasons we have an activity to honor all vets. The African American Cultural Club, Joyce Allen, President, Roxie Elliott, Vice President, help many community-based charities, send cards and flowers to Four Seasons residents, AACC members who are sick or bereaved. Recently club members sponsored a luggage drive for abused children living at Childhelp® Merv Griffin Village. For the group's 2017 Gala Christmas Party every attendee is asked to bring a Christmas gift stuffed animal to be given to children living at Childhelp®. This group would like all Four Seasons residents to get involved. Call Joyce or Roxie.
