22 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | DECEMBER 2017 | Happy Thanksgiving! Bring on the turkey, gravy, biscuits and pumpkin pie! What is it about Thanksgiving that conjures up visions of just good eating? We have much to be thankful for – too many blessings to mention here but so grateful for each one of them – and YOU. "Let us be grateful to the people who make us happy; they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom." Marcel Proust. We can't believe how fast 2017 is slipping away. Right around the corner Santa is hiding. Such a busy two months but it gives us pause to linger on what is really important - family, friends and memories. One of the highlights of the year has been the monetary contribution from the Four Seasons Golf Club. Their generosity is beyond our words to express. Their president's expression of appreciation for our efforts was heartfelt and caring. We will carry on, get better at what we do and make this place called Four Seasons a gentler place to call home. Thank you to all the wonderful members of the Four Seasons Golf Club from all of us. Celebrations of Life: We have no celebrations of life to report. However, Team Sunshine is saddened by the passing of Dan Evans, Susan Miller and Karen Koski. Our condolences go out to the families of these Four Seasons folks. We are not always aware of the loss of loved ones in our community. We send our sincere and heartfelt condolences to those who have suffered loss. Programs: The program team has done an outstanding job this year. The programs presented in 2017 have been interesting, informative and diverse. They are busy formulating their plans for 2018. If you have a suggestion for a program, please contact Mary Swinney, Program Chair. Christmas Music Program – A Four Seasons Christmas. Team Sunshine is again hosting the music program presented by the Vintage Voices and directed by Ross Brunetto. We hope you have your calendars marked for Sun., Dec. 10, 7 pm in the Ballroom for a fun evening of Christmas cheer. The first program of the year has become a tradition in Four Seasons — our 90+ Birthday Party. This program is received with much anticipation by those who have been blessed with such longevity. Trish Moorhouse chairs this event and it just seems to get better every year. The date for this birthday celebration is Wed., Jan. 17 at 3 pm in the Ballroom. (Those pictured below are last year's honorees). Team Sunshine will be contributing their energy and expertise to the task of decorating the Lodge Ballroom into a festive showcase for the holidays. Kindness Recognition: LaDean Hatcher writes: "Each month Team Sunshine would like to thank and show our appreciation to a Four Seasons resident for their act of kindness. We continue to seek nominations from members of the Four Seasons community. In doing so, we hope more residents will be inspired to give a hand to a neighbor in need. An act of kindness can be anything that is considerate, caring, compassionate, friendly, sympathetic helpful, etc. If you act from your heart, it can't be wrong. It's easy to nominate someone for a Kindness Award. Simply stop by the Lodge front desk and ask for a Kindness Nomination Card. Complete the card and return it to the attendant. A member of Team Sunshine will retrieve the card and follow up with you to complete the award process." If you need more information you can contact LaDean at 677- 7166 or email her at laddeepoo3@yahoo.com. Other Team Sunshine Information: A good source of Team Sunshine information is the Caring Connection Card which can be obtained at the Lodge front desk. Please stop by and pick up your copy. If you know of someone who has had surgery, recovering from an illness, etc., please contact Trish Moorhouse (909) 844-3852. She will contact her team members to send the appropriate card. This information is also passed to a "calling team." They will initiate a call as follow-up. Over the past several months we have tried to give you an overview of our individual team efforts. We like to put everyone to work at some task from time to time during the year. We serve our community in a number of special ways and feel privileged to do so. Closing Thoughts: "All I can say about life is, Oh God, enjoy it!" - Bob Newhart, US comedian & television actor Team Sunshine
