He will be hosting the show "Those Were the Days," which is an upbeat, energetic, musical journey of America's greatest songs of the 60s. This includes songs he performed with the famous New Christy Minstrels plus the music of Peter Paul & Mary, John Denver, Pete Seeger, The Mamas & The Papas, and uplifting originals presented with amusing stories in an intimate show. HARBORLITES CHORUS Sun., Jan. 28 in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom, show at 3 pm, doors open at 2 pm, $10 pp. Join two-time International Champion Harborlites Chorus for an afternoon filled with incredible music! Based in Huntington Beach, the Harborlites Chorus was founded in 1960 as a chapter of Sweet Adelines International. Their membership includes women of all ages and backgrounds, including students, CEOs, moms, teachers, nurses, air traffic controllers, lawyers, voice instructors, former ballerinas, regional and international quartet champions, and women new to the art of barbershop singing. Under the direction of Pam Pieson, Harborlites has grown both in numbers and recognition, winning both Regional and International Chorus Championships. Their performances incorporate exceptional singing along with innovative choreography, plenty of heart, and their trademark energy! NYNY SHOW Sat., Feb. 3 in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom. Show at 7 pm, doors open at 6 pm, $10 pp. "New York New York" is a 90 minute tribute show packed full of energy, excitement and loads of great music, as it commends four legends in pop music. These four performers have been doing tribute shows for many years, and it shows in their spot-on performances. These tribute performers exude true "sound-alike" & "look-alike" qualities that have even fooled their legends' best critics, their family, friends and fans! The performers are Sharon Owens as Barbara Streisand, Pat Rizzo as Tony Bennett, Sheri Rae Parker as Bette Midler and Robert Ensler as Bobby Darin. This is definitely a show that you will not want to miss out on so make sure you get your tickets early. Tickets go on sale Dec. 1. BLOOD DRIVE Tues., Feb. 13, 9 am – 2 pm, Bloodmobile in the Main Clubhouse Parking Lot. Sun Lakes is hosting a blood drive to support Lifestream, which is a blood bank for the San Bernardino & Riverside Counties. The donated blood goes to local hospitals in our area such as Beaver Medical, San Gorgonio, and Loma Linda. Please help us on this day by donating blood. Our goal is to have 40 people donate! If you are interested please call the reception desk and sign up for a time slot. We have time slots every 15 minutes from 9 am to 2 pm. The donation center will be the Bloodmobile which will be set up in the parking lot of the Main Clubhouse. Hope to see you there! BEGINNER SPANISH An introductory Spanish class will be offered to Sun Lakes residents. The class is designed for persons with limited Spanish language background. The class covers pronunciation, vocabulary and Spanish phrases. The first term class starts Feb. 9 and goes until May 11. Class will be held Fridays for one hour beginning at 1:30 pm. Only 20 students will be selected while others placed on a waiting list. A sign-up sheet will be available at the front desk. Persons wanting more information can also call Ramon Salcido at 845-8932.
