big band dance Join us for our "Black & White Ball" on Nov. 9, in the Main Clubhouse. Wear what ever you feel is appropriate. Last year many of the guys wore tuxedos. There will be black top hats, black table cloths and white napkins. The food will include dinner salad with ranch and raspberry vinaigrette dressings… and those great Sun Lakes rolls. A carving station offers strip loin (with au jus and creamed horseradish), turkey breast (with gravy and cranberry sauce), green beans almondine, sweet potatoes and cake for dessert. Members are $30, guests $33. The band plays music from the nostalgic eras right up to the present time, including line dancing, Salsa, Tango, Swing, Rock and Roll, Cha Cha, Rumba, Two Step, etc. You will think you were dancing to the best of Glenn Miller and Artie Shaw. Some of our band members were in that era and can recreate that old time music. Nothing beats the sound of a Big Band, and in front of that band is "Nannette" the singer that puts Ethel Merman to shame… er, ah… almost. country western dance As previously mentioned, the club's scheduled activities this fall differs from normal. Go mark your calendars so you don't miss any of our activities. On Fri., Nov. 16, (THIRD Friday), we will have a special dance with a professional guest DJ and dance instructor. Come and dance to some new music and learn a new, fun line dance. Remember, Fri., Nov. 16, 7 - 9 pm, in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom. We are going to make this a FREE night, but will be collecting donations for the "Holiday Wish Program" as we do each year. We know that you will have a few holiday dollars to contribute this year just as you have been most generous in previous years. Our other dance will be Sat., Nov. 24, 7 - 9 pm, in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom. What, a Saturday! We've never had a dance on a Saturday. 80s plus club Our last meeting found us mesmerized by the very polished voice of Brenda Lucia. It was like finding ourselves in the heart of Broadway. Brenda treated us to such fine songs as "Sound of Music, "Memory," "Maybe this Time," "Think of Me" and "Cabaret." " Brenda is really a pro… we had problems with the sound system but she is took it in her stride and never missed a beat. Thank you, Brenda, for sharing your wonderful talent with us. We meet the second Saturday at the South Clubhouse at 3 pm. Info., Barb 845-7904 or Carol 769-7382. November is catered, reservations only. Well, we have one this year. To make this dance extra special, we are asking you to bring a few holiday goodies to share. So, please come and take the opportunity to relax, have a good time and work off some extra Thanksgiving calories. Our line dance instructions will be held in the South Clubhouse on Mon., Nov. 5, 12, 19 and 26 from 7 to 8:30 pm. Couple instructions are Tues., Nov. 13 and 27, from 7 to 8 pm in the South Clubhouse. For the remainder of the year we will have our "Holiday Dance" on Fri., Dec. 21, 7 – 9 pm, in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom. Our final 2012 activity will be our New Year's Eve dinner dance. A catered dinner and dance starting at 7:30 pm at the North Clubhouse. Everyone can come, so look for our flyers. Info., Joe or Jean, 769-9148. dinner dance club Aah! The fresh, crisp air is upon us. Fall is in full swing. Time to slip on those dancing shoes and swing to the music of Global Affair on Sat., Nov. 17. The Ballroom doors open at 5:30 pm so you can come in your "dressy" attire and enjoy visiting with friends and neighbors. The music will begin at 6 pm. Shortly thereafter, you will be served a green salad followed by your choice of entrees: lamb chops, baked garlic-parmesan chicken, or a portabella mushroom in a marinara sauce. A brownie will top off the meal for dessert. Sign ups are Thurs., Nov. 8, in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room at 2:30 pm. Be sure to come early to have all of your paperwork completed by the time table-selections begin at 2:30 pm.
