men's golf Congratulations to those elected to our Board of Directors: Fred Lutka, Steve Munday, Brian O'Connell and Dennis Stancik. Their terms on the board begin Jan. 1. They will replace Joe Karlage, our current Handicap Chairman; Dolph Mason, who resigned in September to facilitate a smoother transition for his replacement from his five-year held position of leadership as Tournament Chairman; Terry Heider, our current Club Vice President for the past three years; and Gaylord Spence, who is ending six continuous years on the board, two as Membership Chairman, and four as Publicity Chairman and Breeze Editor. We are extremely grateful for their service and buoyed by the knowledge that their positions will be filled by a group of such high caliber. The new board will, at its December board meeting, have an election to determine which positions each of the new members will be assigned. The only clear position that has already been determined is that of Dennis Stancik as Tournament Chairman. Dennis was appointed to fill that position when Dolph Mason resigned and it was then known that Dennis really wanted to run for that position for 2013. The group of men that have already volunteered to form the Tournament Committee for 2013 has also further helped this couples golf The Couples Golf Club is a group of couples with a wide range of handicaps and skill levels. We tee off Sunday mornings at 8 am on the Championship course and compete in a different tournament format each week. The weekly tournaments are designed more for fun than pressure. Tournament entry fee is $5 per couple which pays for that week's prize money. Our annual club membership fee is only $60 per couple, which includes a free catered lunch for each couple served at our club meeting held each quarter. Clearly our club is more about meeting people and having some fun than just winning tournaments. Visit our website at www.sunlakesgolf.com or call Vice-President Jack Sidwell at 769-9316 for more information. Membership forms are available in the Main Pro Shop. With Dennis' guidance these men have been very instrumental in crafting the new tournament schedule for 2013, of which many new changes will emerge to the competitive betterment of the club. This new schedule will be made known and emailed out to the club's current membership roster in late November or early December and will also be available in hard- copy form in the Main Pro Shop at that time. If you get the sense that this new board will hit the ground running when the first of the year hits, you are absolutely right! Our club could not be in a healthier situation, leadership wise, than it is right now! Re enrollment forms were mailed out during the first week in October, also including a $3 increase in the SCGA dues. These forms, and the required fees are due Dec. 1, but must be paid before Dec. 15. However, if you are new to Sun Lakes and have been contemplating joining the Men's Golf Club, right now would be the most rewarding time! All new memberships that are submitted AFTER Oct. 1, will be valid for not only all of 2013, but also the remaining months in 2012. In essence this boils downs to a FREE three-month membership if you enroll now! Info., Fred Richman, 769-7595.
