January marks the fifth year that our Gallery Wall and Cabinet has been filled with original and unique pieces of artworks by our very own Four Seasons Residents. I estimate that well over 500 hundred paintings, crafts, jewelry, ceramics and more have been on display for our enjoyment to view. I thank each and every artist who has shown, all the volunteers, art teachers, plus the Board and staff of Four Seasons Lodge for making this happen. Louise Ceccarelli, gets her own thanks for all of her hard work helping me to keep up this special local art gallery. Enjoy the new year and thanks for keeping art in our community. ~ Nancy Hawkins A R T Group | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | JANUARY 2018 | 25 I have been painting for about four years now, and my favorite subjects are landscapes and animals. In the past I have done paintings of horses and dogs. Looking for a new challenge I decided to try a big horn sheep, and it did provide that challenge. ~ Carl Kreun This summer we spent some time on the Oregon Coast. While there, we were lucky enough to witness many eagle sightings. We saw a family of eagles flying over us, the fledglings playing in the sky — they stayed over heads for several minutes. On another occasion we saw a large eagle flying over us with his dinner in his talons a large yellow snake. That was my inspiration to paint an eagle. Maybe next time I'll try one in flight. I've been taking art classes at the Lodge for about 2 1/2 years. I'm very grateful that we have the opportunity at Four Seasons to participate in theses classes. And I'm also grateful for the wonderful teachers and the talent other artists in this community. It has truly given me the opportunity to learn in a very positive and encouraging environment. ~ Rosemary Garrison
