10 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | JANUARY 2018 | Am I really welcoming you to the year 2018? I encourage you to glance at the picture on the wall by the return table on what our library use to be. Now stand back and look at what you created. And, this is my favorite time of year. You either received a new book or bought one for yourself. We receive so many new ones in January. I must mention how beautiful the Christmas decorations looked this year. We thank all the volunteers in Four Seasons that work so hard to make our community look and feel joyous! The library was awesome. We welcome you to the Four Seasons community library. A new library committee picture was taken and made by member, Blair Becker. It is on the wall by the return table. I appreciate everyone who works so hard. Our committee has grown making it easier to keep the library looking pristine. Our residents keep us up to date with new and older fiction hardbound books. Our non-fiction section is filled with biographies and a broad range of interesting topics. We now have some room on the bottom shelf for different topics normally not accepted. A travel section was started and we could use more books. Check them out in the lower shelves. We tried to start another "Classic" section but only have the one book. We lost Sho Gun, Hawaii, Texas and several others that were never returned. If you have a classic book maybe you could donate it to our library. Our magazine rack is much fuller now that we accept four months for displaying. As of this writing please bring, October, November, December and January magazines for us to display. After reading them please be sure to return them for others to read. I am receiving several magazines now and my new neighbor donates many magazines but our rack gets pretty empty. Really try to bring them back. Thank you. The library displays our hardbound books from 2007 up. The hardbound non-fiction section is not displayed by date. There are history books too important to go by a date. The paperback books are displayed from 2013 to 2017. The library committee is comprised of residents who enjoy reading and have a desire to keep our 55+ library in order. We all enjoy working there and ask that you please let us do our job. Please don't put your books away. We'll do it! And, thanks to the resident who is bringing in the Four Seasons newsletter. Our library is the perfect place to read it! The library committee wishes Four Seasons a healthy, happy new year filled with peace and plenty of time to read! From Blair: "With a library you are free, not confined by temporary political climates. It is the most democratic of institutions because no one – but no one at all – can tell you what to read and when and how." ~ Doris Lessing Committee member Cookie read Moonlight Mile by Dennis Lehane. Patrick Kenzie works for a private investigation company, Duhamel-Standiford. Patrick has a difficult time controlling his temper. He blows up easily. Seen too much and really can't stand the job. But, if he can just control himself they will make him a permanent employee. His wife, Angela, is praying for the stability that would make it easier to care for their daughter, Gabriella. Angela attends school in the evening while Patrick watches their daughter. Once Angie completes college she'll be able to begin an internship with Blue Sky Learning Center. Then they would be a two income family. Years ago they were able to locate a missing four year old child and return her to a neglectful mother and a broken home. They question the sanity of sending her back. "Is it possible to do the right thing and be dead wrong?" Now 12 years later the same girl has gone missing again. The mother wants them to find her once more. This is a fast paced book involving identity theft, dope and Russian gangsters. Patrick and Angie make the best P.I. team and partners. I think fiction readers will enjoy the characters and fast paced action. R rated for language! Library Committee
