38 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | JANUARY 2018
The Veteran's Club at Four Seasons was formed in September
2013. Our mission is to recognize all the veterans living here at Four
Seasons. To date we have 100+ neighbors recognized as veterans of
the many wars our nation has endured. These veterans are recognized
in our Honor Roll website, www.fourseasonsvets.org.
Our club is quite unique. We don't have structured meetings,
collect dues, or costs to be involved. Your military service to our
country has made you a paid up member for life.
NEW YEAR'S DAY
January 1, 1776 - During
the American Revolution,
George Washington unveiled
the Grand Union Flag, the first
national flag in America.
President Abraham Lincoln
issued the Emancipation
Proclamation on January
1, 1863, as the nation
approached its third year of bloody civil war. The proclamation
declared "that all persons held as slaves" within the rebellious states
"are, and henceforward shall be free."
And I further declare and make known, that such persons of
suitable condition, will be received into the armed service of the
United States to garrison forts,
positions, stations, and other
places, and to man vessels of
all sorts in said service.
And upon this act,
sincerely believed to be an
act of justice, warranted
by the Constitution, upon
military necessity, I invoke
the considerate judgment of
mankind, and the gracious
favor of Almighty God.
Veteran sign-ups are on Wednesdays, 12 pm near the Bistro
Lobby. Contact me if you plan to attend. We will take your photo at
the Wednesday Interview
meeting for inclusion in
the "Honor Roll" www.
