FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | JANUARY 2018 47 The Second Annual Chanukah Latke Party and White Elephant Exchange was Dec. 17, at The Summit. A variety of delicious, fascinating, and innovative latkes, traditionally using potatoes — were enjoyed. Not only potato latkes were created, but the giant latke and veggie latkes — zucchini, sweet potato, carrot and gluten-free — were enjoyed by guests who also enjoyed homemade applesauces, jellies and jams, and flavored sour-cream. Traditional desserts included rugelach, babka, and mouth-watering jelly donuts (safganiyot), carmel apple noodle kugel, Chanukah cookies, gelt (chocolate coins), a cupcake menorah, double-deep chocolate Chanukah layer cake, holiday challah, chocolate toffee matzo crackers, pies, chocolate chip coconut macaroons, and a variety of cookies and cream truffles. A White Elephant Exchange followed the latke party with new and old treasures exchanged (many times) by the enthusiastic members. Our next event is the monthly 'Movie Night & Bagel Bash', held the third Sunday of each month at 6 pm. Lox, cream cheese and bagels are served, along with potluck desserts and drinks. A $2 donation is requested for each event. Events are in the Card Room, followed by the movie at 6:45 pm at the Theatre. The Event and Social Committee members are getting input for the Passover Seder, which starts March 30. If you are interested in serving on the Passover Committee, please contact Nancy Justice or Sandi Barletta for more information.
