| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | JANUARY 2018 | 45 Bible Study Our Bible study group is non-denominational. All are welcome. We meet together every week for fellowship and study. On the first Wednesday of each month we meet for dinner before our regular meeting. Reservations for dinner are taken in the meeting the last Wednesday of each month. Bring your Bible, any version, and listen to or participate in our discussion of the evening topic. We're all learning together. We'd be delighted if you'd join us. We meet Wednesdays at 7 pm in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room. Welcome new and current writers to our Creative Writers Group! We can all write something with a little help, and many with less. If you have already started a writing project, we can gently assist you to complete it. You will learn just by listening to others and gain information from our handouts. Meetings are twice a month, on the first Monday and third Wednesday, from 3 to 5 pm in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room. PLEASE NOTE: This month, since New Year's Day falls on the first Monday, we will meet on the second Monday (Jan. 8) and third Wednesday (Jan. 17) at the usual place and time. Happy New Year, everyone! Info., Roger Smith, 769-2808. "Finding the path our ancestors walked is not always easy but the reward of the journey makes the effort worthwhile". Wed., Jan. 24, is the start of the new year for our Genealogy Society. We meet at 1 pm in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room. Dues are $20 per year. Our incoming president for this year is John Gascoigne who has skilled knowledge on the up to date procedures for doing research. John is also a well traveled researcher and likes to share his family stories. His ancestors were a part of the Los Angeles land grant families. Does the name Pio Pico sound familiar? In January we are presenting guest speaker Judy Steenson, a Sun Laker, to share the story of her Irish ancestors, the book she wrote about them, and display her handmade quilt showing their story. Ah, the Irish! Recently our society has donated a cabinet full of research books and maps to the Yucaipa Public Library for their Genealogy section. These books will be available to everyone who visits the library however they are for research only and will not be available for check out. The library is located on 5th Street in Yucaipa. Our group feels that these books will be used there in a better setting and time than in our Multipurpose Room storage here. We look forward to getting to know you and all the "famous" people in your family and also we'll help you with any family research questions. For information call 769-4454. Genealogical Society Lose weight the easy way! With our service, we come to you every morning, supervise one meal (an apple) and then tape your mouth shut!
